Has anyone ever finished FAR early?

I take FAR on Thursday, and everyone I’ve talked to who has taken it says they were down to the wire on time. I’ve been studying like nobody’s business for the past 2 months, but my biggest fear is that I won’t have enough time to finish–some of these calculations are really time consuming. I’ve actually had nightmares on more than one occasion of running out of time on FAR.

I’ve taken REG and AUD so far, and I finished both early (with about an hour to spare on each). Is that a good sign, or is FAR a whole different ball game?

    REG (2/24/12) - 89
    AUD (4/5/12) - 89
    FAR (5/31/12) - 91
    BEC (7/7/12) - 84

I finished both FAR and AUD with about 1 hour and 45 minutes to spare so it's definitely possible. If you've been finishing exams with plenty of time so far I wouldn't worry too much.

    FAR 93
    AUD 89
    REG 81
    BEC 87
    Ethics 100

I finished FAR with about a minute left. And decided my brain could use that minute to recover from shock. Pretty early if you ask me.

The most time I had was about 15 minutes. So I used the time to review my sims again, after that I couldn't look at it anymore.

Those 15 minutes to spare was with me going through all the MCQs twice and SIMS twice.

Started sitting in May 2002, on and off. But since 2008 I've been nonstop and my scores are....
    AUD - 39, 48, 56, 65, 68, 73, 76!!! (Finally passed in Oct 2011!!!) Becker, NINJA, & Wiley
    REG - 75 (Lost Credit) 72, 68, 73, 75 (Passed again in Aug 2011) Becker, NINJA, & Wiley
    FAR - 65, 68, 75 (Lost Credit) 68, 73, 73, 80 (Passed again in May 2012) Roger, NINJA, & Wiley
    BEC - 65, 68, 71, 72, 72, 71, 76 (Lost Credit)- 70, 76!!!! I AM DONE!!! - Roger, NINJA, & Wiley
After 10 long years of studying, I AM DONE!!!! Finally a Licensed CPA in the State of New York!!

I was down to the last minute on FAR. Felt great after the first testlet, plenty of time, then the second and third ones were crazy hard. I didn't even have a chance to look over them after I did them, just clicked continue and moved on. That was a scary feeling.

I used every last minute on the SIMS — I did all the problems first, then used the Research tab to fix some of my answers. I'm glad I had the time for the SIMS, I used every last bit of it.

    FAR -- 90
    AUD -- 95
    BEC -- 82
    REG -- 92

    DONE!

If you are seeing a trend in finishing the tests early, you are probably fine. In my opinion, FAR and AUD are definitely two different ballgames as far as time consumption. AUD was a comfortable hour and 20 minutes or so for MCQ's. FAR I had to force myself to stay on track to leave 90 minutes for SIMs so it was a struggle for me to get through the MCQ's in 2 and a half hours.

Rule of thumb, don't spend more than 50 minutes per testlet which leaves 90 minutes for SIMs. At least that was suggested to me and I think following that helped me pass.

Good luck!!! Looks like you are doing well so far. Whatever you're doing, keep it up.

    FAR - 2012 - PASSED (YAEGER)
    AUD - 2012 - PASSED (YAEGER + NINJA NOTES)
    BEC - 2012 - PASSED (YAEGER + NINJA NOTES)
    REG - 2013 - PASSED (YAEGER + NINJA NOTES + NINJA AUDIO)

    ETHICS - 2013 - PASSED

I finished all of them with > 30 minutes remaining. Obviously sometimes it worked out for me and sometimes it didn't.

    AUD -49, 71, 84
    REG -56,75!
    BEC -75

@Kim… just an FYI, I should have clarified. That rule of thumb is more for FAR rather than AUD. Depending on how much you use the authoritative literature tab for SIMs you may or may not want more than 90 minutes on SIMs. I personally used the full 4 hours for my exam and finished MCQ's in an hour and twenty minutes (but most of the time on SIMs I was just digging for very small details so it's not like all that time was required).

I was digging into the literature like a crazy person and found a lot of my answers word for word in there. One way or the other, you clearly managed FAR pretty well so you should have no issue with time management on AUD. Just keep in mind that the SIMs could take awhile depending on how much you go digging in the literature.

BEST OF LUCK! Will see you on the release thread for sure!

    FAR - 2012 - PASSED (YAEGER)
    AUD - 2012 - PASSED (YAEGER + NINJA NOTES)

    REG - 2013 - PASSED (YAEGER + NINJA NOTES + NINJA AUDIO)

I finished FAR with about 20 minutes to spare, and finished the AUD exam with about 2 hours to spare. On the BEC exam, I got through the MCQs in about 1 hour and 45 minutes and spent the entire remaining 1 hour and 15 minutes to write three wonderful written communication/letters…that was the only one that I ran the clock down on. On REG I finished with about 35 minutes to spare.

@wickedrentlover You should be fine with your time management. I finished FAR with 50 minutes left and REG with an hour left. It is all a matter of how well you know the information, like any other exam. Since you have been studying for two months straight you should be fine. Good Luck. You've got this.

    FAR: 81
    REG: 85
    AUD: 73,71,83
    BEC: 82

    DONE!!!!!!
