I got an email from Nasba stating I was ineligible to sit for exam because my transcripts didn’t state I earned a bachelor degree. I called both my school and Nasba and found out that I requested my transcript a week too early for it to show on non official transcript since my December graduation. Nasba told me that I just need to resend my transcripts and I will be fine luckily, but I am trying to beat the 2015 150 hour limit change and this put a bit of a twist to the vise on that timeframe.

It could have been far worse though.

You won't lose any time if you start studying now. Start FAR and by the time you are ready to sit for the exam this should all be worked out. Not a big deal at all. I have to take 4 classes that cost me 2k because of the new California standards.

I spoke to an ancient wise man who sent me on a mushroom induced journey through an ancient forest to find the key to passing the CPA exam. A talking spider monkey told me to throw the last of my drinking water in the dirt to find what I was looking for. So I followed his instructions and the following message appeared in the soil:

"Do 5000 multiple choice questions for each section"

That's a great point Study Monk. I've been reading the ninja flash cards waiting because I didn't want to buy a program until I was officially given the green light. And they were just $1 last week. But I haven't fully jumped in by any means.

I think I'm ready to go for it now and then I can try and beat the clock as soon as I get that NTS.

I feel your pain on the $2k for classes but 4 classes here would cost $4k. I would need 8 more classes to get 150 if I don't beat the deadline. Not the end of the world, but it would be great to never return to a classroom again.

Did your school give you a timeline when will your transcripts become verifiable?

This is cpaexcel accounting program. This is the only program that I have found that is over 6 units towards CPA educational requirements and uses cpa review material to teach the classes. Unfortunately you would need to know whether or not you will meet the deadline. If yo have a whole year you should be fine assuming your diligent.

Believe me when I say I hope that you beat this new requirement. I am luckily able to sit with my 124 in NY but the licensing requirement changed in August 2009 while I graduated in May 2009 and due to a student bill my transcript was not release. Needless to say ive been putting off the exam due to having to deal with 26 credits to get my license.

it really SUCKS!!! I hope you dont get stuck in this situation.

    FAR: April or May 2014
    AUD:
    REG:
    BEC:
    Scared: 100

FAR first and only attempt: 2014 Wiley textbook, 10 Pt Combo, and WTB

I only get one try to have to give it my all and try to get 75 on my first go around.

-The only thing that stands between you and what you want out of life is the will to try and the faith to believe it's possible.

I can't beat the deadline if I pass by March of next year all 4 sections.

I work for a CPA that will sign off on hours she isn't hesitant at all.

@Amordiva I requested them a week early they now state it on them as of the 24th. I rushed the mailing to 3 day so maybe next week I'll be all set and can buy cpa excel course. I already have ninja notes/audio and flshcards I'm prepping with as I wait.

@goingtobecpa87 I thought long and hard about just finishing off a masters but at about $20k I figured it was worth the cost of trying the CPA exam first because if you fail you still have the $20k to spend on school. Definitely a bit of a gamble, but worth it I think. Plus I'm fresh out of accounting courses so rather than push it down the road with fewer classes in the future geared towards accounting I think I'd be doing myself a disservice.
