Hi Everyone! I starting studying for the CPA Exam about a little over a month ago. I am staying for FAR with Wiley CPA Excel and I am waiting on my NTS. My goal is to take the exam in January or February if I am ready.

I am currently working full time around 45-60 hrs a week and I am trying to figure out strategies to get more information in. I am studying during my lunch for an hr and at least an hr to 2 on weeknights (with a glass of wine at ready) . On the weekend, I am studying around 4-8 hrs minus various activities (holidays, family birthdays etc) while trying (operative word here) to maintain a social life (I just found a great jazz club that made wonderful old fashioned cocktails).

I am appreciating everyone’s input and looking forward to making CPA Friends!

Hey! Your study schedule sounds about like mine was. I made it through, but it wasn't pretty. 🙂 I love that you're trying to keep some semblance of a social life – it's the only thing that kept me sane! The only thing I can say is that you think you'll hit an hour or two every weeknight, but there's a good chance that you won't. You'll find an excuse, something going on, a friend who pops in, etc. Just be honest with yourself about the amount of time you are truly willing to put in (you'll figure out what that number is after a few weeks) and plan accordingly. And, if like me, you get down to crunch time and don't feel like you've studied quite as much as you should, hammer those MCQs and run those flashcards like there's no tomorrow! Bribing unsuspecting friends to run flashcards with you is also not out of the question. 🙂

Good luck! It's a beast of an exam, but it's doable. Keep interacting with everyone here – it's a great support group and provides a pretty good distraction when you still have three hours of studying to do but need a break.

Oh yeah – And welcome to the forum!!! You're gonna love it here. 🙂
