Help! As much advice needed

    Hi all,

I will try to keep this as short as possible. I made a big mistake by studying before I received my NTS. I recently found out that I wasn’t eligible due to two hours that weren’t carried over. I still have 150 hours total though. I was so devastated and am very disappointed in myself. I was almost finished with my first run through for REG. This is my last semester of graduate school (only one class a week) and I am interning 3 days a week so I definitely have the time to study. I was advised two things: continue studying all parts and when I’m eligible (May), I will only have to review OR apply in Georgia since they require 150 hours total and not for particular classes and don’t have a residence requirement. I feel as though I am stuck.

Any advice will be appreciated. Thanks!

Wow – to study all 4 sections and then just review them?? I don't see that working! Many of us schedule exams close to the release date bc its very difficult to retain new information without forgetting the old. For example, I wouldn't start studying for a new exam until I received my score bc I wasn't going to start throwing new info into my poor brain if I wasn't ready for it. Of course there are situations where the 18 months will expire and you need to do what is necessary to get it all done – but you are not in that boat – you have none passed. How will you remember anything from REG after you've studied for the other 3? In my opinion, you wont. At least I know I wouldn't!

Why are those your only 2 options? Cant you just start sitting for the exam in your state in May? And only study 1 at a time?

We had a guy Peachtree on the forum and he took one exam before he had fulfilled his education requirements. He had to wait to get his results but he got that exam out of the way. I am pretty sure he passed all 4 the first time. Try searching the forum for Peachtree. That might help you!

    Good Luck!

@Determined CPA: That is an option as well but I just wanted to start as early as possible. Would you recommend maybe going through 2 until May and then when it's time to sit, I'll just be able to review.

    @ ruggercpa2b Thank you!

futureCPA@22 – I think 2 is better than 4! You're studying REG so I don't encourage FAR since one is a tax basis and the other is a GAAP basis – might be too confusing! I would say REG and BEC!

Are you not able to sit now even tho you don't have enough credits? Some people sit before they have fully satisfied their credit requirement.

@Determined CPA that's what I was thinking. And just sit for both in May.

I don't think I can in the state that I'm in because I have to receive my NTS.

I wish you luck!! When you move on to BEC, every few days do a 30 questions progress test (if you're using becker) to keep the info fresh!
