Help!! – Georgia Experience Requirements

I recently passed all four parts of the exam. My next obstacle is that I work for a company that does not employ any active CPAs. I am currently the controller here and I really like my job. I do not want to quit this job to obtain the needed “experience”, but I’m not sure what my options are. I’m going to contact our state board later this week to see what my options are, but I thought I would try this forum first.

We are a private company, but are audited each year. So, in essence, I feel like my personal work is audited every year by a reputable CPA firm. I was wondering if there is any way that I can have our CPAs sign off on my experience? Has anyone else had any experience with this?

Yes, definitely contact the State Board on this one. You may even want to get their response in writing.

    Good Luck!

I think they have a provision for sending in your résumé. Especially if you are self employed and the board considers your situation separately.

Just as an update to my original post, I called the Licensing office of NASBA and they said that it would be fine if I used my company's external auditor (who holds an active CPA license) as my supervisor/verifier. I sent in the application last night. I'll post any progress that I make.
