So i took FAR end of April and got a 60 which is all my fault i took like 6 months to study since it was my first test and i wanted to read the material 2 times then start on problems but i ended up forgetting a lot. Second time around i am using Ninja Book/Notes/Audio/MCQ and going back to the book for things i still need help on. My time window is short since i have my exam at the end of August. Would it be wise to finish with Ninja and see how i do or spend the money on some sort of cram course? I have Ninja and CPAExcel right now and i think CPAExcel provides way to much information and way to much detail.

I would just keep studying with the material you have.

You have a lot of materials, why buy more.

Just know every questions on the material you already have.

That is what I am doing now using Becker and Ninja.

I would drill the MCQ ninjas and see what your weak areas were. When you initially read through the material, were there any areas that confused you or that couldn't completely follow? If so, I would try and skim those passages every few days to try and understand them better. Don't be discouraged if your MCQ scores are initially low, it happens to everyone. The MCQs will give you a chance to apply all the concepts and usually clear up any confusions. Good luck!

I am taking FAR for the 3rd time in August 2015. I improved my score by 5 points the 2nd time just by working MCQs everyday until the exam yet still not enough. I used only CPAExcel for the first 2 times and needed a change because they do have an overabundance of information.

I normally work 20-30 problems in each of the 5 sections to determine my weak areas. Keep a notebook with key points that you continue to miss on questions and/or simple things you regularly forget. The week of the exam continually review those notes and work the troubled problems. Keep in mind that it is a lot of material so don't get to focused on knowing everything. I aim for an 85% trending on all areas by the time I go take the exam. I did this on REG a few weeks ago so who knows if it works…but fingers crossed!

No help here as I haven't started doing MCQs seriously, but I have a question: is CPAExcel the Wiley test bank or is it something else, I often see the words Wiley CPAExcel together so I am a little confused.

The Wiley testbank is under the umbrella of CPAExcel I believe. When my co-worker purchased the package last year, the Wiley testbank was included for 1 year. However, it is something you can buy separately. I personally like the NINJA set-up because the questions are broken into the sections like the exam (i.e. 5 sections for FAR). Once you start working the problems you can focus on the areas you are weak in.
