Hello,
I suppose you could say I’m an exam-taking (and failing) veteran. I started in 2010 and scored 75 on FAR (woohoo!) and proceeded to pass BEC and REG in 2011 before failing AUD with a 74.
Twice.
The 2nd AUD 74 came with a bonus – loss of FAR credit. With loss of BEC looming as well, I became despondent, built a cave in the wilderness, lived off Girl Scout Cookies and whiskey and basically went off the grid (save for my, you know, job).
I decided to start fresh in 1Q 2014. I’ve had Bisk (2010), CPA excel (buy 1 get 1 BEC/AUD) and Becker (FAR) review materials. Only CPAexcel offered me 2014 updates – I have BEC/AUD 2014 software.
I took BEC on 02/18 with minimal study – 77. I chalk this up to CPA karma, as I was 1 (!) stinking point away twice (!) from becoming certified in 2011/2012, in a section completely non-relevant to my career, no less.
So I received my 77 this morning, and…it feels somewhat foreboding, as opposed to a sense of accomplishment – as the clock is now ticking. I was a victim back then, and must not let that happen again.
I need updated REG/FAR material. What would someone suggest? Ante up $600 each for CPA excel? Becker? I will need more thorough vetting with FAR than I needed with BEC, to be sure. Just looking for a cost-effective strategy, that doesn’t compromise my 18-month window. Any advice is greatly appreciated…back on the trail once again! 🙂
