I am using CPAverify.org to determine whether prospective employer would in fact be able to sign my work experience for Licensure. I used 2 different individuals with licenses in 2 different states and got the following info. What is the difference between them? can either one sign my work experience? Thanks

    License/Permit/Certificate status: Active

    License Type: Individual

    License/Permit/Certificate status: Registered

    License Type: CPA

It varies from state to state. Each state has different descriptions and status terms. I would assume the first one is valid, since it says active. The second one, not sure. You may want to go to the state level instead of CPAverify.org … for example, Florida has myfloridalicense.com, where you can verify a license. Then you can call the boards of each state and ask what the status description means.

    Licensed Florida CPA:
    B: 71, 73, 79
    A: 83
    R: 78 (expired), 77
    F: 74, 74, 80

    It's finally freaking over.
