So as I going through Individual transaction, and I come across the section of Higher Education Exp, where if it is required for your job/employer/government regulations, you can get up to $4000 deduction. What if I currently don’t work for any firm or accounting related job? Can I still take that deduction for my material and exam fees cost on my taxes? 🙂

From what I understand it has to be detrimental to holding your job.

    R - 90 2/27/2014

Cpa materials testing fees etc. Are never deductible in any circumstance.

If you're taking a college course it may qualify. If you're doing self study it never does.
