Question for all those who have previously passed FAR. I am in the planning phase of my study strategy and I am going all in on the NINJA study method.I anticipate sitting for the exam 4/18/15. I have reserved the weeks of 3/22-4/4 for Non Stop MCQ’s and 4/5-4/11 to re-write NINJA Notes, leaving 4/12-4/17 as my Final Review.

My question centers around how to best organize my time from 1/28-3/21. Can anyone suggest an ideal order to study the topics in? I’ve thought about either alternating between comfortable/uncomfortable topic or theoretical topics first and calculation topics last.

MCQs. do them one topic at a time, instead of trying to learn all the topics at once. Whether you get the questions right or wrong, read the explanations and definitions below (assuming you're using NINJA MCQ or Becker, not sure about the rest). The custom button on Ninja MCQ is extremely useful.

@mt3130 you got a really great score for FAR. How did you study? As you can see from my scores Im in the hunt, I just cant seem to close the deal. The one constant in all my attempts is that my SIMS are weaker and I think that's what keeps me from getting a passing score. Any thoughts on how to improve my performance in that area?

know your debits and credits…..journal entries are really good basis for understanding in FAR. Very understated, but important.

I agree with ijustwant76 – after failing it 4 times, I passed FAR with a whooping 83 by just writing down my journal entries as preparation and under 2 weeks time of study+review after failing my 4th attempt with 71.

And you have a ton of time ahead so if i were you I would review what I learned after finishing every 2 chapters of whatever material you are using. so when you have 1 week left, you should be at a state of dreaming journal entries and questions. and one last thing, finish all the simulations you can find, including research sims. sims are great practices for this exam.

I went from a 71 to an 85 just doing Simulations from Gleim. This will help you understand the JEs a little better and that is what you need to pass. If you keep on doing Mc, you will get back to the vicious circle. I dont know your average score on MC,but if is around 85, you need to work on your simulations skills and know your JEs.

I exclusively did MCQs. I have never once done a practice simulation while studying for any parts of the exam.

I passed FAR using Becker, which made you calculate under/over billings for a construction contractor as an MCQ. They would then show the journal entries made at various steps in the cash conversion cycle to help explain the theory. When doing MCQs, I typically spend a maximum of 1 minute answering the question, and a few minutes reviewing the explanations for why each choice is right or wrong below the choices.

I find that the explanations given on MCQs are much more succinct descriptions that are easier to retain than what you find in the books and lectures. My method netted me an 89 on FAR after 9 days of studying for a total of about 60 hours.

    REG - 90 (08/2014) - Study Time = 6 days
    FAR - 89 (10/2014) - Study Time = 9 days
    BEC - 83 (11/2014) - Study Time = 4 days
    AUD - 89 (01/2015) - Study Time = 2 days

    Final score released - 2/4/15
