    Hi gang –

I am hoping you all can share your study habits with me and perhaps help me get through the material a bit quicker. My plan of attack has been to watch the becker lectures and take notes, then go though MC questions after each section, saving a week or so for a final review.

The problem is it takes me forever to get through the lectures while taking notes, as i tend to pause the video every 20 seconds to write things down. With working full time, it has been taking me atleast a week to get through each chapter (so for examle with FAR it took me 10 weeks just to get through the material one time). I study at almost every spare moment I have, so the solution wouldnt be to “study more hours each day” but rather to change my study plan. Although what I am doing seems to be working for me, I would like to speed things up!

    ANY IDEAS???

    Thank you!

    FAR - 11/30/14 -79

    I'M DONE! ITS OVER! WOOOOOOO!!!!!!!

I skipped lectures, read the book without taking notes, and then took notes as I went through MCQ for REG. I think that merhod saved me so much more time than when I went through all the lectures while taking notes for BEC. If you are an audio learner than watch the lectures without taking notes. You may be surprised at what you retain when you don't have the constant disruption of stopping to take notes.

    Mamabear,

Why does it sound so simple. I feel so anxious if I don't take notes while reading. I need to speed it up as well. I am going to try it this way. For heaven sake, I got to speed this up.

It can be tough to lighten up on the note taking if you are used to writing down everything. I used to write down a TON of notes, but then I got carpal tunnel. It was such an awful feeling not being able to write everything down at first. But slowly I realized that my writing was really a “crutch” I was leaning on and that I was able to learn without so many notes. the main point was for me to focus on the material and substitute some writing with talking outloud. Now you don't want to have to talk all day either, so it took me some time to form new study habits. the end result……

I achieved higher grades without writing than I did my whole life. I was able to get through material faster and learn super efficiently. I would have never switched methods if not for the carpal tunnel. Now my hands are substantially better, so I do write down some important notes. I found that saving the writing for multiple choice questions is much better. First, your hand gets breaks because you don't constantly write. Also you are just writing down information that you know you didn't know, rather than writing down tons of stuff that you would have known anyways just given a couple more read throughs.

Trust in your abilities, put down the pen(for the most part) and be on your way to quicker learning!!
