and still get a seat at the test center you want?

I have taken 2 parts during this July/Aug window (one per month), scheduled them both on the same NTS that I got beginning of June, before I even started studying. I’m waiting for the results of the 2nd exam, and if all goes well, I will get another NTS for the remaining 2 sections. Problem is, I will start work at the beginning of Oct and don’t know how it will affect my study schedule so I’m not sure when to schedule them and was wondering how close have you guys registered for an exam before you take it?

Honestly, with my busy schedule, I only schedule one exam at a time. That being said, I only take one exam per testing window because I usually have to move my exam due to “life happens”.

Two of my exams I took right when the NTS was about to expire, and the other I was able to complete within 4 months.

To answer your question…I've never been able to schedule an exam and get the testing date I want.

Never had a problem. I did it differently. I let the availability dictate my test date. I have one Prometric center 2 miles from my house. The next closest one is 75 miles away. So I really had no choice. So, 2-3 months before the exam, I:

    a) Looked at the cutoff date for score releases (to minimize the agonizing wait time).

    b) Look at the availability of Prometric on certain days around that cutoff date.

    c) Scheduled the exam.

In doing so, it forced me to have a hard date for the exam. I did not allow a reschedule as an option. This hard deadline dictated my study schedule and work/life balance, and my progress for each section.

Turned out ok for me 🙂

    It's finally freaking over.

This may just be my area, but I found way worse availability for the last testing window of this year. I scheduled my November test halfway through August, but was still stuck with a Friday test date, and earlier in the month than I'd like. I refuse to take my test in the morning, though due to productivity issues. I heard they open more dates as the times approach, so maybe that is why the only test that I got a good date and time (Wednesday afternoon) was my first one only 4 weeks out.

agree with gator. I usually let whatever is available dictate when I take it. I do wait until I am done with my study unit, or very close, and then go schedule. A couple of my friends told me it is really hard when you are working full time and living alone to try and follow the deadlines. Most of them ended up sitting with only part of their materials complete and no time to review.

    AUD - 87
    FAR - 82
BEC - 75 - Danced with the bubble and I won!!!!
    REG - 73, 80

I see, thank you everyone for your replies.

How long does it take to get a subsequent NTS? I've seen people on here say they got theirs in 1 day, is that true?

My naive self applied for all four exams on one NTS. Taken two, with a month to study for REG and a month after for FAR. So I'm hoping I have at least two passes on this NTS. My BEC test I scheduled like 6 days before my exam but I had been studying. Sometimes I wait because at prometric here there will be like no seats open to test and then closer to the date people will have changed and some open up. I just set a general date in my head (for instance I plan on reg sometime between the 13-16 of october, haven't scheduled yet), and pick my desired time when it's open if possible.

    BEC - 76 7/22/14
    AUD - 84 8/30/14
    REG - 75 10/16/14
    FAR - 87 11/24/14
