    So to start- I am using Becker materials. I am a few weeks away from test day (April 9th) so I am in the midst of redoing the homework. I have come to find that I am still really shaky with F3. I’m not at a total loss ( scoring about 65% on the homework) but still really uncomfortable with the topic. I plan on re-watching the lecture tonight and taking notes, but could really use some advice about the tactics you’ve used. Today is just one of those days that I feel like giving up but I know I can’t.

    I found the best thing to do for F3 is to write out the journal entries and t-accounts when you do the homework. Once I did this for a while it really started to stick and made sense. Understanding the underlying concepts and doing MCQ is the best way to improve.

    @ROACH — Hahaha…so funny…no comment 😛

    @MG — How do you get better at anything in life? Practice, practice practice. Hammer as many MCQs as you can…also, I'd consider supplementing with a test bank like Wiley. Good luck!

    @Roach – That's me in my avatar and you never said I was “smokin' hot”! Is it the husband and son in the picture or just because I'm freaking old? You can be honest. I don't mind the truth but your answer better be the husband!

    As for answering the question instead of hitting on girls via an internet forum…ahem…I'd say 65% is actually doing pretty well. I wouldn't be freaking out. The HW is generally tougher than what is on the exam. You can't possibly know every question they'll ask, but at 65-70%, you have a pretty good grasp of the concepts. Don't waste too long on one lecture that you seem to have decently down.

    Starting all over.

    @ROACH – Hahaha well thanks for giving me a good laugh after a day of struggling with F3. And yes, that's me.

    @BaseballCPA- Did you use Becker alone or did you turn to Wiley as a supplement?

    I guess when I get 65% on the homework I've noticed it's usually because I'm missing some kind of fundamental trick. Today I finally understood the different between partial goodwill (IFRS) and full good will so that was key! I still really hate F3 though.

    @mg — I used Becker alone, but I think life would have been easier if I had used Wiley as a supplement…practice makes perfect! If you can afford it, it's a no-brainer. Good luck with the exam, mg, but hey, according to ROACH, if all else fails, you can just flirt with the prometric guy and get him to give you the answer sheet 😉 jk jk! Good luck!!

    Hahahaha if anything, with my luck it would be a bitter, single woman at prometric! 🙁

    I think the key is repetition. If I have a really hard time with a chapter, I might read and do the MCQs 3 or 4 times each.

    R 8/11 86

    I find that 80 percent of the time I'm reading, the only thing I can think about is whatever pops in my head that isn't accounting. For example, sitting on the flusher earlier, I was reading about contracts and remedies, but as I was reading, I would only absorb one or two things a page. Meanwhile, I imagined that it would be nice to have all this information uploaded into the brain via a microchip.

    I'd love that microchip, MrNormal! Let me know if it becomes available. 😉
