I just took REG - found out I passed with an 88. I did use the research tab for a few simulations. When asked to do calculations, it's always the result of applying a tax treatment to a particular scenario. So if you can identify the scenario and use key words to search the code, you should be able to find a section that tells you how the calculation is performed. Example: if you know the calculation has to do with an installment sale, you could search for "installment sale" and the code will tell you how to calculate what portion of the principal payment should be recognized each year. Obviously you would then use the calculator or spreadsheet to do the calculation.
The key is to be able to identify what is being asked so you can search efficiently, using the key words that will lead you to the proper section of the code.
I found the simulations in the Wiley software and book to be very similar to what I saw on the test (this was my first exam).
You're so close to passing this whole thing! I'm just starting - BEC next for me - what should I expect there??
