I passed far with an 80 studied for about 3 months. Memmorized 99% of the passmaster questions then on the weekend before the exam supplemented with wiley test bank. First run through the passmaster i felt so overwhelmed and dumb to put it plainly. The second and third time through everything made sense. Just push through. No point wallowing in self pity

I just took REG last week, and though I don't know if I passed yet (sims were killer), I felt much more comfortable studying for that exam than I do for FAR.

I'm on Chapter 2 so far, using Becker, and I've put in nearly 30 hours this week trying to do the homework. I still can't yet grasp the concepts as great as I did on REG.

I learned while studying for REG that if you do a ton of multiple choice, you eventually pick up on more things, and you start to learn how the examiners try and trick you, but I feel that every single question in Chapter 1 and 2 are different.

Does anyone have any experience struggling with Becker and passing?

Unfortunately FAR is just a beast to pass. It took me 3 times, and for certain topics I really didn't understand them completely until my 3rd time going through it. I think Becker is good but I had to supplement with other things to finally pass it the third time. I added NINJA notes (I rewrote them and then read through them over and over) and Wiley test bank.

Just keep going through it and do whatever works for you, whether thats flashcards or your own notes. I went through the IFRS vs GAAP alot which helped me remember the previous chapters and I reviewed the journal entries alot which I had previously overlooked. Just don't get discouraged, I had it in my head that I couldn't pass the exam but the third time around I just kept telling myself that I could do it.

    AUD- 72, 85
    REG- 74, 83

FAR is definitely passable. I would echo the advice of onmyway…find what works for you..REG is a completely different animal than FAR…what worked for REG might not work for FAR. Just keep plugging away and you'll get the hang of what you need to do. I am not using Becker so I can't help with that..I am using Yaeger, Wiley TB/Book, Ninja Notes and Cpareviewforfree. Different viewpoints helped me a lot. I watched a few of the lectures twice such as Bonds and pensions. Go over it till you understand it. Don't hope a certain subject won't be on your test. Make a plan and stick to it. Good luck!!!

I get overwhelmed if I look at the material as a whole. I assign myself topics and focus on that topic. For example, this weekend will be all about bonds! I may review a few easier topics also ( read notes or do flash cards) but the main focus will be bonds. Allocate your time wisely and take little bites! Good luck to you!

FAR is definitely the Goliath of the entire CPA exam (especially when you look at how thin the book for BEC is and compare it to FAR).

The best advice I think anyone can give you is to do hundreds (if not thousands) of multiple choice questions until the material gets stuck in your head.

It's passable. I did it twice!

I took the Becker classes for all four parts and passed all the parts, although not by much! With FAR I was very intimidated by the huge volume of material so I also bought CPAExcel and supplemented Becker. I didn't have time to go through all of CPA Excel, but I did use it toward the end and found it helpful.

Like others have said, do the MCQs over and over again, as much as you possibly can. It's certainly passable.

Some topics will be more easily absorbed than others. You won't absorb everything. No one does.

The AICPA says the test is not curved but it is hard for me to believe that, especially with FAR. You'll get there. I felt lost during FAR, more than during any of the other parts but incredibly I got my highest score. Good luck to you.

It is certainly passable, but you've got to study hard and really know the material.

For Becker, Modules 1 and 2 are some of the more basic stuff, but it is fairly important for the exam, so make sure you nail it down.

Do all of the multiple choice questions for each homework set and really make sure you understand why you are missing things. Also, make sure you're not simply memorizing questions and you should be fine.

In the end, it comes down to getting lucky on the exam. For me, I got 5 out of 7 SIMS that I knew and was able to do in a very short amount of time. The other two I did okay on and, luckily (I hope), one of them was most likely the throw away question.

Study hard and create your own luck… Becker is WAY harder than the actual exam, so keep that in mind, too.

practice makes perfect. do every question at least 3x and you'll do fine. you'll be quite amazed at how much you know when it's all said & done.

F2 scarred me for life. Probably was my least favorite chapter out of all the chapters I've done with Becker.

Just push forward. Remember to do progress exams after each Chapter.

    FAR: 50, 76!
REG: 74... (ouch baby, very ouch), 76!
    AUD: 65, 91!?
    BEC: 80! Aaaand doneskies!

Keep a “one module at a time” attitude and keep moving forward slowly and steadily! The amount of info is soul crushing but you will find that some topics will click quicker than others!

Keep at it and good luck!!!

Thank you all. I've just gotten trough chapters 1 and 2 and I'm completely overwhelmed. I don't think it's going to lighten up at all either.

    @abbzolute42,

Nope it won't get any better, but stay focused and go through one module at a time. study, study study…is the name of the game.
