I have locked my self in a hotel room for the next two days of uninturpeted CPA prep Blist. I need to get through at least 1000 questions this weekend. I know I see where a lot of people do 100 to 200 per day, how long does it usually take you complete your questions? Do you write out your wrong answers? What’s your strategies? Please respond

For example, for me, I spent 3:00 hours or more, doing 200MCq,, is depend the question, your analysis, if you understand the question, if not, write the question until you understand, not only understand the question, understand why the other answer is not correct. That is my process for the 200MCq per day. The important things of this is learn the question correctly, no doing a lot of MCs with out learning correctly.

I didn't concentrate on how long it took me to get through the questions. I did MCQ's in sets of 30 (just like the exam), and then took a 5-10 minute break. Then I would review what I got wrong, write it down on 1 sheet of paper. Then I would review that paper before each time I did a set of questions. I also brought it with me and reviewed it in my car just prior to going in to my test.

Don't burn yourself out with an expectation of how long it will take you to get through 1,000 questions. Instead focus on getting quality study time in, what strategies are going to help you retain the information?

If you can do 1000 MC questions in 2 day then you're doing something wrong. Quality over quantity just like the others suggest.

    BEC (11/17/12): 88
    AUD (1/18/13): 76
    REG (2/27/13): 88
    FAR (4/15/13): 90

When I tackle 150-200MCs like I did when I restudied to take my Auditing exam, I literally did it thougout the day. I wouldnt suggest going through 200-300MCs all within 4 hours. I like to always look at all the problems again after Im done. And I dont just look at the ones I got wrong, because there are always some that I got right but I guessed completely on, so I dont wanna neglect those. So the reason it takes me all day is because I may do one set of 20 every hour wihch includes actually doing it and also rereading the solutions and writing down stuff I think I wont be able to remember later.

The purpose of MCs is not to be able to do them as fast as you can. It's being able to indentify what the question is testing and which part of your books can you find the answer. IF you have already mastered your book, then its a piece of cake. If you're struggling to hit atleast 80% on a majority of your MCs, you need more practice assuming you're re-doing MCs and not doing them for the first time.

Thank you all for your replys.. Yes, im redoing questions in a attempt to get more practice in and to pin point weak areas. What I have been doing is completing 20 questions per hour and reviewing the correct and incorrect answer choices, wheather I got the answere right or wrong and for the ones I got wrong or I may have guessed on; I'm rewriting the answer and reasoning why I got it wrong.
