Is one week ok to take off between exams? I took FAR on Monday and was going to continue doing MCQs just in case I didn’t pass, but I’m also going to start my review videos for REG next week. So is a one week break acceptable?

    BEC - 69, 66, 78 (exp), 82
    FAR - 69, 72, 66, 76
    REG - 64, 66, 72, 80
    AUD - 77
    Ethics - 95

Absolutely it is ok! In fact, I would encourage it, as long your planned exam schedule allows for it. I didn't take a break between my first test (REG), and second (BEC), which was fine, as BEC didn't need as much study time. After BEC, I actually took three weeks off between BEC and FAR, since I knew I wouldn't be taking FAR until the next window, and that with my 10-week study plan for FAR, I would need a break. I took the time during those three weeks to relax, and to take the ethics exam and get it out of the way. In hindsight, I would have preferred a slightly shorter break (1-2 weeks), but hey… testing windows.

My point is, you definitely shouldn't feel bad about taking a short break. Keep your eyes on the prize, but its ok to give yourself a little time to rest!

Thanks everyone. I plan on starting this week but I sort of felt guilty for taking time off.

I completed all 4 exam between January and November of 2012. I work in public accounting, so I took BEC in January and then put down the books until April 15th. Between April 17 and November 12 I studied and took the other three exams simultaneously. That being said after each exam, I took 7-14 days off to clear my brain and purge it of the material I had just spent 6-8 weeks studying for.

    BEC: 01/09/12 PASSED
    AUD: 05/29/12 PASSED
    REG: 07/19/12 PASSED
    FAR: 11/12/12 PASSED

@ Resacups that's pretty amazing! I just don't think I passed FAR this past week. Did you move on to the next section until you found out if you passed or did you continue to work those MCQs on the section you just took?

    REG - 64, 66, 72, 80

I took off one week after my first exam, and two weeks after my second. I need the time off so I dont go insane.

I began on the next section. I told myself in the beginning, if I failed a section, I would pick it up at the end. For me, it is better to forget everything and relearn it, than to convince myself I knew something and skim over it as part of studying for a retest. Some if not most would disagree, but short of knowing exactly what I missed on the exam (which you will never know), I would be better off assuming I knew nothing and start over.

    BEC: 01/09/12 PASSED
    AUD: 05/29/12 PASSED
    REG: 07/19/12 PASSED
    FAR: 11/12/12 PASSED

Once you start passing parts and your momentum is rolling, you won't want to take off any days.

    AUD 78
    FAR 82
    REG 76
    BEC 81 I'm officially a CPA!
