How many marked questions is too many?

So I took Audit today and it was definitely…something.

My first testlet wasn’t too bad. There were about 6 that I decided to save for the end to reread them a little more carefully and I feel like I did at least alright on them. The second testlet felt harder, but I wasn’t sure if it was because I didn’t recognize a good amount of the questions or if it was a harder testlet. I definitely marked off a few more than the first testlet to save for the end.

The third testlet on the other hand was definitively much more difficult than the first two. It felt just as bad, if not worse than Becker’s second final exam. At least half of the questions I came out feeling like I really wasn’t sure if I got them right or not.

Sims obviously are more difficult to figure out, but for multiple choice, just how many is too many to look at and be unsure of? I feel like the last testlet could be the deciding factor for me yet it was REALLY difficult for me. I know people say that’s a good sign an increase in difficulty, but I wouldn’t be surprised if I got 10 wrong on that testlet.

So how many questions is too many to be unsure of on a hard testlet before the boost of getting hard questions doesn’t matter anymore in your opinions? I’ve seen people saying they only marked off like 6 or 7 questions when they had harder testlets so this worries me a bit having such confusing questions on the last testlet.

I had a very similar experience with my audit exam, and was asking myself the same questions. The first testlet wasn't too bad, second testlet was much tricker, however the third was much easier than the first two. I was sure that receiving the “easy” third testlet, compounded with the fact I had marked THIRTY-ONE questions throughout the exam, was the kiss of death. I answered the unmarked questions with 99.9% confidence. For the marked questions, I had narrowed them down to two choices, but I still wasn't feeling good about the exam as a whole. I was in disbelief when I saw the 98 pop onto my screen at score release.

The bottom line is that nobody really knows how these exams are scored, and there are too many variables at play to answer your question. I hope you can find some comfort in my experience though – I was unsure on over one third of the MC, still passed with plenty to spare.

I flagged so many questions throughout the exam and yet I still passed. Before I found out that I passed AUD, I thought I failed because I also read that most people only flagged a couple of questions and yet my testlets look like there's a party going on.

I went back on my flagged questions, took a deep breath, silenced my thoughts, read the questions carefully and answered the best that I could.

I believe you did fine. The number of flags don't matter- your answer does. Don't sweat it.

wow, OP, my AUD experience today sounds like yours! I felt that the 2nd testlet was a bit more difficult than the 1st, but the 3rd was a nightmare, I kept guessing so much and it seemed like so many specific details were being tested on. i flagged 3, then 6, then 10 on the last testlet so at least 1/3 were unsure answers…Congrats on your 83!!! I'm waiting for my score already lol
