I personally spent more than $3,000 so far (review materials and exam fees) just for FAR and AUD but not pass them yet. I am wondering how much does it cost you to pass all the parts? I saw lots of people took all of the parts more than 1 time. it is added up to a lot of money. there’s one I counted more than 10 times. wow. I really need to get another job just for this test.

    please share your pain.

My employer paid for 4 exams. So far I have passed 3 on the 1st try and had to retake REG which I find out about tomorrow. We get a huge discount on Becker which we had to pay for. It was $1750 + the extra exam I had to take. I can't imagine paying for exams and study materials by myself. I wouldn't be able to do it. I applaud those that are personally investing in their future. Obviously I am not including the opportunity costs that are involved in studying for the exam. But the 9 months of hell will be worth it. (as long as I pass tomorrow!)

I just feel sooooo frustrated seeing money went down the drain. I have to work 2 jobs right now and barely afford to take 1 test per window. In school and regular college you still have a grade like A,B,C…but here either you passed or nothing. No one even care look at your hard work unless you pass a part.

I got my offer after I had already taken Becker courses and taken the exams, so I have to pay over 4,000 out of pocket and will not be receiving any reimbursement. I believe my future employer is the only Big 4 that does not offer reimbursement. AAAAAAAAAAaHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

    FAR - Aug 2013 Passed
    REG - DEC 2013 Passed
    BEC - FEB 2014 Passed
    AUD - MAY 2014 Passed

BSEE = who needs accounting degree to pass CPA exams?

I have been at this for 2 years now and have spent way more money that I imagined. I already lost count of how much I have spent.

About $4,000 of my own money for Becker materials, probably another $2,000-$2,500 on test fees. Eventually my employer will reimburse me $2,500 for materials and give me a $3,000 bonus for passing, so I won't break even but I'll come close-ish.

    BEC - 69, 70, 82 - DONE
    FAR - 59, 77 - DONE
    REG - 53, 70, 85 - DONE
    AUD - 66, 68, 70, 85 - DONE

I don't want to go back and add it all up but I'm guessing in the neighborhood of $5k. 2800 of that is Becker the first time I failed each part.

I can get reimbursed for $1k if I passed all parts, I'll find that out sometime next week (I don't check online, I wait to get the email pass/fail).

stag, I am taking the exam before graduation/interviewing and will be in a similar situation as you. Which Big 4 do you work for, if you don't mind my asking?

    @Topsya,

I try not to stress about it. Either I failed or passed, whether I check it Friday or whenever they get around to sending the emails out. It's also worked for the last 3 exams I took.

The real challenge is looking at the pdf while at work, waiting until lunch or the end of the day. If I look and fail I'd be pretty worthless the rest of the day. But at this point if I passed I'd probably be pretty worthless also LOL.

I went to Drexel University and all of the Graduate students “required” to pay $500 for FAR review course as one of the requirement. The course was called ” Philadelphia Review.” It was a mess. Most of the students in my class were international student and they only been here for 2 months in America. They had to take a full load of classes 14 credits (in English) and prepare for CPA exam. it was a joke.

Money money money. college institutions really know how to get your money one way or another
