How much do you hate studying for AUD?

I started studying for Audit a few weeks ago. I thought BEC was bad…! I know Audit isn’t supposed to be “that hard” because there’s no calculations, but I’m finding myself getting hung up on everything. Should I memorize this or not? Etc. And it’s so soooo boring…zzzzzz.

What’s the best way to study for Audit? MCQs or reading? Also, I’m thinking about supplementing with Wiley Test Bank again, which is what I did for BEC. Should I get the Test Bank or go for the Ninja Notes?

    BEC: (4/2012) 88
    AUD: (5/2012) 91
    REG: (8/2012) 82
    FAR: (1/2013) 78 🙂

@keely – hang in there. As far as what's the best way to study for AUD? I think it's a combination between reading, taking your own notes and doing an insane amount of MCQ's. I see you're using Becker, I found Becker to be excellent and more than enough for AUD, so you can save your money. If you really feel like you need extra practice and have extra time after getting through Becker, get the Wiley Test bank. For the SIMS, be very familiar with the Research Tab, this will save your life on test day.

@jenuno: Thanks for the response! I am confused about the SIMs…I am only in A2 and haven't gotten to the practice sims yet for this section. I thought you only get one research question, and by research, that's where you put in the keyword and find the proper code numbers and enter them in the box? Do you use the research tab for the other sims? How do you feel Becker's practice sims prepared you for the actual ones, or did you do more practice elsewhere?

    @hut: I totally agree…

@keely – I thought Becker's SIMS were ok? Wiley Testbank's are way better though. When I say be familiar with the research tab, I mean be able to research almost anything. You might 1 or 2 research questions (depends on how lucky you get); however, you are able to use the tab for every single SIM you get; there are some really weird SIMS in AUD that you could never prepare for even with months and months of studying…this is where the research tab comes in handy! For example, say you get a SIM on XYZ standard…you know the basic rule, but that's it.. the SIM requires you to apply to a specific scenario with a lot of different variables, so then you research the topic and more than often, you'll find the answers. Hope this helps!

Short answer: Not nearly as much as I hated preparing for REG.

    FAR 88 (07/15/11)
    BEC 83 (08/31/11)
    AUD 81 (10/15/11)
    REG 83 (11/26/11)

AUD was my favorite for studying for. I think FAR and REG are the worst 🙁

@jen: That does help, thanks so much! I think I may buy WTB just for the sims…since I started with BEC I have no sim experience and probably need some extra practice.

@cash, I can't believe you liked studying for AUD. You're crazy! 🙂 I just hate it because it's just been very difficult for me deciding which stuff to memorize and what to let go. I guess it doesn't really matter though, because I'm going to take it May 30, and if I don't pass, I'll just take it again the beginning of July. No harm, no foul, I guess. I'd definitely like to move on to REG and FAR….I'd really just like to be magically all be over!!!

Watching the lectures and doing the MCQ should give you a good idea of the major topics to focus on. Understanding the concept is much more important than memorizing. The only topic worth memorizing is the standard 3-paragraph unqualified opinion. And also read the questions carefully. There's a reason why this test is as long as FAR. The answer choice seems correct but they casually slip in a random word (eg. effectiveness, internal, details) that makes the choice completely wrong.

Researching the SIMs is another advantage, so as Jenuno mentioned, be familiar with it. I failed to use the research function on my previous attempt and regretted it.

Yay! Kasia is back. I thought you had abandoned us.
