How much to worry about IFRS for FAR

FAR is so big I have trouble enough memorizing everything in GAAP. Then you throw IFRS in the mix, and it’s way too overwhelming. I’m considering for the most part not focusing at all on IFRS as I review for one more week before my test. Is this dumb? Or am I only likely to see maybe 3-5 IFRS questions on the entire exam?

    AUD: 62 [2/27/15], 87 [5/29/15]
    REG: 76 [5/1/15]
    BEC: 86 [7/20/15]
    FAR: 76 [8/28/15]

    DONE!

I think you will definitely see more than 5 IFRS questions on the exam and you may also get an IFRS SIM. I did.

    BEC - 76 (1/24/15)
    REG - 82 (4/13/15)
    AUD - 89 (5/31/15)
    FAR - 78 (8/16/15)

Starting right now I'll be strong
    I'll play my fight song
And I don't really care if nobody else believes
'Cause I've still got a lot of fight left in me

Do accountants in other countries need to worry about learning GAAP?

‘In addition to having to know almost everything about GAAP, you need to have some familiarity with the rules for private companies, non-profits, and you had better know your GASB! But wait! There's more! For just four easy payments of $25.99, discounted to the rate that is also known by the customer, you have to know about IFRS too! Because a worldly accountant is a good accountant!'

And yes. Just in case you are wondering, studying for the CPA is making me go a little bit insane.

There are no shortcuts taking the CPA exam. That is my advice. I'd start studying IFRS ASAP.

I agree… keeping track of GAAP, IFRS, governmental, and non profit is enough to make you go crazy… but don't underestimate the importance of being familiar with each.

If you use Becker, there is a nice summarized GAAP vs IFRS somewhere in F10. This definitely came in handy during my review.

    FAR -- 88 (4/21/15)
    AUD -- 94 (7/20/15)
    BEC -- 85 (8/13/15)
    REG -- 85 (10/20/15)

    I'm done!

I've seen so much of “knowing IFRS helped me pass”….while I understand that statement, my thinking is still…”ya, but what about IFRS?” Specifics…..?

I have to be honest with everyone: Whenever I read a IFRS question, I read it in the voice of one of the British board members from one of my old jobs. Sure it is kind of weird, but it replaces the fear with some humor.
