How much would money you be willing to pay for your CPA?

Tougher than it sounds if you take into consideration:

    – Money you’re already spending for exams and retakes

    – Money lost due to opportunity costs

    – TIME LOST DUE TO STUDYING

    – Happiness, fun, and memories foregone

    – Tears of sorrow and frustration (per tear)

    – Etc. etc.

If I had to put a $ amount to it I’d say…. no more than $15K.

Edit: Forgot to put this topic in the Off-Topic subtopic!

    FAR: 50, 76!
REG: 74... (ouch baby, very ouch), 76!
    AUD: 65, 91!?
    BEC: 80! Aaaand doneskies!

    May 2012 to August 2013. Can't believe it's over.

If the valuation is based on the present value of additional future cash flows, I think it will be much higher than $15K. 🙂

    AUD: 94 (Nov. 2013)
    FAR: 76 (Oct. 2013)
    BEC: 79 (Nov. 2012)
REG: 84 (Dec. 2013) It's Mile 26.2, and we finished. Blood, sweat and tears, passion, perseverance, and never giving up, we did it!

    This is interesting.

How much would I pay to get it without suffering you mean? I'd probably pay ~15K if I didn't have to study one bit.

How much did I lose studying for this darn thing?? Well, brotha, it feels awfully more then 15K+……. I think I've been permanently damaged! It's funny what humans created can do to each other. Thanks for the hoops.

Let's just hope it pays off in other ways unimaginable. Sounds like I regret it? Maybe. Then again, what's the opportunity cost of not doing it?

Thread re-classed to OT per request! 🙂

If someone told me 2 years ago that the license fee was $25,000 with no exams and was simply “pay to play”, the only thing I would ask is “where do make this check payable to???”. The monetary cost pales into comparison with the quality time we lose in our life because of these exams. I try not to think about the damage that I've inflicted on my marriage, my family, and my relationships with friends because I've either been a ghost or a psychotic b***h for the past 2 years chasing this dream. I'm so tired of saying “no” to everyone all the time and it kills me to have to spend my holiday preparing for my FAR rematch and not with my family. Hell, I'd drop $25k right now to not have sit for FAR again in January. Ugh.

The bigger question I think would be “will this devalue our brand?” if the license was the price of a midsize car…I'm sure it would tremendously.

Nothing worth having is free or comes easy, right? 🙂

If I could pay someone to take the exam on my behalf, I think I will pay them a maxumum of 20K. The CPA exam holds more weigh than a Masters, and you pay about 30K to get our Masters.

Just as much as it actually cost me. Not sure what is the purpose of this question? I'm sure many people on here were willing to spend way less than they actually did….

    FAR: 81 (May 2013)
    BEC: 81 (July 2013)
    REG: 83 (August 2013)
    AUD: 82 (November 2013)

Lets see here, if I were to reasonably estimate/breakdown my expenses……

Going to be my 10th test soon – So, Test fees – $2,000

    Roger CPA + Ninja Material = $2000

    Since I study at a Tea shop everyday $3.45 x 6 days a week for about 1.5 years about = $1600

Food/Dinner because I spend my nights at the Tea shop easily about $6/day x 6 days a week for 1.5 years = $3000

    Tipping the barista/tea-rista my change = ~$100

    Caffeine shots/5 hr energies =easily over $1000

Amount of Alcohol post study days about once a week = $500+

    Miscellaneous items (notepads/pens(switch it up)/ noise cancelling headphones/snacks/new laptop) = $1000+

    Total above = $11,200

    Not counting…

Lost wages from switching to Part Time twice for a month each = $$$$$$

My obsolete gym membership = $200 year

My obsolete sports club membership = $360/year

    Family/friends events missed = priceless

    Missed a wedding = priceless

    My social life/happiness = priceless

The realization that my paycheck goes straight to Student Loans, Bills, Food, and this test. Ugh = WTH was I thinking

    +everything else

Although my account seems >than $25k in the hole because of this Exam. We all share the same frustration//exhaustion/(+all synonyms related).

Ultimately a very humbling experience in which will all be worth it.

    FAR - 44, 63, 65, 77

    AUD - 68, 62, 71, 89
    REG - 66, 79

@mrsimple…great post! I used to think about the money part of this beast but now I realize the money part is probably the smallest sacrifice of all. At this point I would take out a mortgage to have my life back.
