Any advice for eliminating the effects of distractions in your life? I’m trying to push those aside to focus on studying. It’s hard to do when you are stressed about things.

i know this will help(sarcasm) but life is, and will always be, full of distractions. Its all about getting your $hit done while putting up with all the other shtuff. go play a round of golf or go for a run or do whatever it is that de-stresses you and then get back going.

I have had to learn how to just completely tune out the distractions. Hard, but it's the only effective thing I've found.

It really depends on the distraction. If it is unnecessary drama with friends/family then you just have to say to yourself that it is unimportant and ignore it. Don't get involved. Don't let others bring you down. If it's something else then you have to decide if worrying about it is going to change it. I truly believe that a lot of what we worry/stress about is beyond our control and we just make it more difficult to deal with by spending so much of our energy/time worrying about it, instead of letting life play itself out. If you can't change what has transpired then just try to focus on what you can control and that is your studying, your ability to pass these exams, and your ability to distinguish between necessary and unnecessary. Deep down you know which issues really need your thought/attention and which issues are going to exist whether you take any part in them or not.

You are right. I've done what I can for the situation. It's out of my hands. I can't control how someone else will react. Stressing about possible outcomes is pointless. This other person needs to make a decision and I can't control that. I'll deal with it when it happens.

I didn't have too much going on while I was taking the test. I did have to abandon my friends. Luckily my boyfriend is also an accountant so he understood my need to study and for the most part didn't complain. My friends were aware of my goals but that didn't deter them from the eye rolling, sighing and complaining every time i opted out of something social to study. I eventually developed the sort of tough skin about it. Either you support me or you get out of my way.
