How to get over a failure

I know by not even looking at my score release next week that I failed AUD, it was just a complete nightmare. Used BEcker & NINJA MCQ. Although I feel that when studying i had a solid grasp on materials ( with exception of Subsequent Events) my mind went blank during exam, and I think I may of subconsciously been memorizing the questions. I am currently studying for BEC, and although I have a better footing with the material I am having doubts about being able to competently grasp the material before the testing window ends (February 29th). One of my big fears is that I lose credit (Nov, Feb 2017). I have never been humbled before, I breezed through school fairly easy. I am having doubts that I would ever pass AUD. This is making me doubt my ability, and if I chose the wrong profession. Iol.

Thanks for the ear, needed to rant.

    FAR 5/6/2015- 84
    REG 8/3/2015 - 87
    AUD 10/25/2015- 69 1/20/2016 -75
    BEC 2/26/2016- 80

    Thank you God

I get where you're coming from. I had somewhat helicopter-ish parents that would set me up to do well, and they would never give me an opportunity to fail. I breezed through school as well, and I've never had a mental challenge until doing the CPA exams. After passing BEC and AUD in 2011, I ended up failing REG in 2012 and quitting the exams altogether because I didn't know how to deal with the failure. It took me a long time to adjust my attitude and come back for round two. And this time around, I failed REG again in October, but passed everything else. I'm waiting for my REG retake score to come out on 2/4.

You just get over it. I can't tell you in any other way. You accept that failing is a part of life, and you use the failure as motivation to do better each time. BEC is very different from AUD. Judging by your other scores, I don't think you'll have an issue with it. When AUD rolls around again, try different study techniques and material. Really utilize the study group sticky above. People on this forum have a lot of great tips. You have until November, and that's a lot of time for 2 sections.

You'll be fine. Just keep chugging. 🙂

I keep telling myself- things can always be worse. I know many people that would love to have the extra 30 hours to sit. At least we are eligible. :-/

CONGRATULATIONS! You're a normal human being! And that is ok.

You're clearly intelligent if you've passed two so far. I found this journey to be more emotionally draining than I could have ever imagined. I cried when I finally passed my last and I had some failures in between and I was a month away from losing credit. I grew up in a house where men didn't cry.

You have so much time left before you lose credit. The only thing that can stop you is you. Many people feel as though if the exam feels hard you probably did ok. You don't need a 99. You've gotten back on the horse, and you may fall again, but you're trying. Take note to how low you feel right now. Because when you pass, the high will be incredible. We're all rooting for each other. When I would get done, I would listen to “Why Do We Fall” on Youtube. It's a inspirational video of famous speeches both real and fictional. It helped pick me up. Or you could watch Finding Nemo.

    Either way, “just keep swimming.”

I read a meme on pinterest today that said I never fail, I succeed or I learn.

You are smart enough to do this. Like you I breezed through college. I graduated with high honors in all my programs (BA, MBA, MS). However, I quickly cam to realize on this exam that the ease I had in school never set me up with the proper foundation to really study. It took me a couple exams before I had any clue how to be effective with my studies.

Just stay determined to do this. I am waiting on the score release for my second attempt at FAR. I had one of the easiest set of TBS you could ask for and I am pretty sure I bombed them. If I fail I am just going to have to try harder next time, not much else to say. I am also working on BEC now and it is making me feel like a crazy person. I don't know how I am ever going to master all these calculations and it is my second time through!

All I can do is give it all I have … that is what you have to do also =)

payaza i know you struggle with the language in aud. as a native english speaker the exam was a challenge for me, too. i did not expect my score to be as high as it was. the exam experience was awful for me. so there is hope you passed. if you do have to retake audit wait until after bec. maybe reading more of the materials and even the standards in your native language would help you with the nuance of the questions in english. maybe run the recently released questions through google translate to read in your native language and see if that helps with understanding them better in english. but that is after you know your score. for now just concentrate on bec.

Im waiting for my aud score next week too with a pit in my stomach. You do NOT have to worry about losing credit though! Worst case, even if you do fail audit again, you have plenty of time! Good thing you got the 2 biggies out of the way (FAR and REG) You'll prob pass BEC, but even if you don't, you can still retake both exams in the next window/ every window again until you pass. If you do fail audit again, maybe look into purchasing a supplemental review course to change things up a bit. I'm in the same boat, but a little worse.

Also have 2 passed, waiting on aud, but my current exam is REG (which will take longer than BEC). I have till Feb 2017 till i lose my first credit though, so that is keeping me calm that I am halfway there with a year to knock out 2 more.

    AUD: 98
    REG: 91
    BEC: 86
    FAR: 83

DONE DONE DONE and DONE all on the first try! It IS possible, just keep on studying!
