How to list passed sections on resume

Since recruiting for busy season will begin soon, I’m trying to get my resume updated. I’ve passed REG and BEC, and I’ll be taking FAR and AUD in October. Is there a way to list which exams I’ve passed on my resume, or is that something to mention in the cover letter, or what? I already have my 150hr requirement, but no experience yet. Any other advice for job searching will be much appreciated!

I personally wouldn't list any passed exams. It always reminds me of those people who would state their SAT/ACT scores on their resumes; it just seems like a little much and doesn't really help to make you stand out.

If you'll be going to a “Meet the firms” type recruiting event. At these recruiting events prospective employers are looking for someone to fit their culture/personality. They're looking for Mr/Ms congeniality.

I had tons of smart FOBBY Asian friends who were 4.0 students and knew their stuff. But didn't get any offers from the Big 4 or even mid tier firms. Reason: they weren't super relatable.

I would say list it… But, you make sure that you're standing out from your peers in terms of doing extra-curricular activities like part of meaningful clubs, community service, relatable work exp (part time work)- need not be accounting per say. It shows that you're beyond just a college going student. Got to relate skill sets. Please don't put scores.

SAT/ACT score aren't comparable to CPA. Please compare apples to apples not apples to oranges. CPA leads to different opportunities in accounting profession. SAT/ACT just gets your foot to the college and there is 4 yrs/120 + credits to go through before you step out of college into real world. That being said am not trying to say that we need to have a college degree to be successful. It's just my opinion that entrance exams vs. standardized exams pertaining to our respective career field is not same.

I would agree with mtaylo, just list them. I was recently hired by a big 4 and most of the people who were hired at the same time only have one exam passed, or even none passed.

Like one of the other posters said, it is much more important to be personable with a decent GPA and some extra-curricular activity participation than passing all of your exams before your start date. BTW, the day they want you to start trumps you wanting to have all of your exams completed.

Absolutely list sections you have passed. This tells whoever is reading your resume that you are serious about the exam and are currently in pursuit of getting licensed. My current role would not have even called me in to interview had I not put this on my resume (CPA or current CPA pursuit was a job requirement).

List this on your Relevant Skills/Licenses/etc. area of your resume (Like what mtaylo24 posted).
