    NINJA Question –

    Hi guys,

For those of you who purchased the NINJA book, how are you using it to study?

Are you just re-writing it word for word? Taking notes on the applications?

I was using Wiley books with Yaeger Video’s but misplaced my BEC book as a result of my recent move to Florida.

The Wiley book was a little easier to follow for me because it had more info, but I want to try using this NINJA book.

There is no room for doubt.

I did not but the ninja book, however I did buy ninja notes, ninja flashcards, and ninja mcqs. Everything made by Jeff is simply awesome! I'm sure the ninja book will not disappoint.

Thanks for responding. That was my thought process as well before purchasing.

I'm just confused as to how to use the book, I guess I am the only one.

For example, in cooperate Governance, the second application asks a question about the 5 components of internal control identified in SAS 78 but makes no mention of this previously in the book. The only reason I knew the answer was because I've studied the Wiley book in the past.

There is no room for doubt.

If you have the time rewriting it is not a bad idea. I would make it more concise than word for word, but I was doing that but I started late with it and had to switch to reading it and doing mcq's.

@Regulator17 I thought the same thing when I looked at the Corporate Governance section. The question about SAS 78 comes out of nowhere and was about to ask Jeff to clarify. I hope he can clear it up for me because it kind of threw me off.

    These are good questions.

The book is designed to teach you the concepts, walk you through examples whenever possible, and give you application questions that are straight from the AICPA.

The application questions aren't part of the “testing”, they are part of the learning phase.

Any book worth reading cannot cover every single thing the AICPA could throw at you, but using NINJA Book + NINJA MCQ will cover what you need for exam day.

Your uber-expensive video courses don't cover “everything” either – which why doing the MCQs is an integral part of the learning process.

In short – read the book, learn from the examples and application problems to build your foundation and then hit NINJA MCQ and it will all come together.

I threw curveball questions like the SAS 78 question in there because you can learn something from that question in case you see it on exam day. It wouldn't make sense to walk you through the history of COSO and SAS 55 and SAS 78, but just from that one question, you learn a few things that you might remember again when you're taking your exam.

    I hope that's helpful.

@ Jeff – I also bought the BEC Book , if I am on an 8 week study plan ..how long should it take me to read BEC book + write notes before hitting the MCQ?

We all have the ability to be whomever we want to be in this life. It's just a matter of DETERMINATION, PERSISTENCE, PATIENCE and the WILL to follow through. Never give up!

I would target 3 weeks with the book … 22 pages a day (studying 6 days a week) … another 3 with NINJA MCQ … 2 weeks for review?

I'll be honest my two BEC scores were with this method, but I really lacked utilizing the book. I think the two together would be more than enough to pass. I took it a 3rd time recently and I'm awaiting my score and think the 2 will push me over.

Hi there- Just a quick question because I will begin to study for the BEC exam after I find out my score for AUD. Are there any tutorials or instructions on how to use your book Jeff? I know most courses do but I wasn't sure if your book did. I am debating if I should purchase the BEC Ninja book because I am not sure if I can study without the video lectures. Your help is greatly appreciated.

I tried to make the book as straight forward as possible and use Concept – Example – Application whenever possible.

Instead of paying a course $2k to read their book to you, you can read NINJA Book yourself 🙂

After finishing the book, I would jump into NINJA MCQ and hit questions until you test day – at that point, you're trending in the 80s hopefully – take it and pass. That's the idea, anyway

I exclusively used the NINJA Book and the NINJA MCQ for my first attempt at BEC. I'll get my results tonight or early tomorrow and will post back in this thread with my thoughts/results.

Well, I didn't pass BEC unfortunately. I thought the book did a great job going through everything and the NINJA MCQ were great as well, but I don't think I put the effort in necessary to pass this. My trending was at 66% and my actual score was a 68, so I definitely needed to get that up. This was a ME problem and definitely not any faults with the NINJA material.
