    Hello everyone,

I am right now studying for the last section of CPA examination process. I am still on the R1, and honestly I have never felt this way before. How tough the REG section can be for a person who have never ever worked in taxes so far in his/her life?

How to deal with the subject which is total foreign to you?

I did my bachelors and masters from India, never worked for any tax firm, what can I do to nail this subject? Currently using Becker exclusively, so far it worked for me in other 3 tests, but for REG I feel myself in an unknown water.

What to do to enhance my chances to give my best shot to this final one.

Any help, tips, advice highly appreciated.

    Thanks a lot.

    FAR: You are down...
    Aud: Surprised me...Thanks
    BEC: 75% work done
    REG: It's 80 but I am 100% done 🙂

@No_one Hey I was in that exact situation. I felt the same way when studying for reg the other day I was really sure I couldnt do it. I did my bachelors in Jamaica, only did one taxation course which was JAMAICAN Taxation. So I pretty much get what you are saying. However, I did the exam in February and got an 85 (surprisingly) My advice to you is to make sure you understand all the rules, what I did was to write down every rule for Individual, Corporations, Partnerships, Estates & Gifts on separate sheets, like what is deductible, what is not, important thresholds such as gift tax exclusion or MOM & POP exclusion. and i just kept going over the sheets constantly throughout my review. And just PRACTICE… PRACTICE PRACTICE AS MUCH MCQ AS YOU CAN. Do simulations too cause the regulation simulations are tough. The ones on my exam were really tough as well. But you can do it!

@amoycpa…Thanks a lot for reassuring. Do you mind sharing which material you used for review and did you aid your studies with anything else?

I used Becker. I went through the text then did the lectures then the questions. I supplemented with Wiley online test bank and i also bought Ninja flash cards for review. Time was running so fast though so I didnt have much time to use the flashcards to their full potential. I made my own flashcards as I went along to reinforce any concept that wasn't sticking.

I dont think I did enough simulation practice but I would recommend that you practice those sims. You can use Ninja Mcq instead of wiley online test bank because I hear its great and its alot cheaper. I'm planning to use it for FAR.

    All the best!
