I used CPAexcel for BEC exclusively and squeaked out a 76 on the first attempt. But, you have to actually pay attention to those lectures!

I lectures are awfully boring, but yes, they do require attention. I would study the text more and get Ninja MCQ. It was the only test I passed on the first try, and I primarily used Ninja MCQ (and WTB). MCQs clear up a lot on the material…

I only used CPA Excel. BEC was the exam I felt the most prepared for, and my second highest score. I do recommend making notecards for the memorizing items.

I used CPAexcel exclusively the first time I took it. I felt adequately prepared going in, but came up short. I think a couple of essay questions just happened to be subjects I was not totally comfortable with. I got ninja multiple choice for the retake and used it hard for 15 days before a retake and the last day or two I alternated between ninja and practice tests and felt much more prepared going in.

If I had any doubts at all and was still over a week away, I would strongly consider the ninja multiple choice as an add-on. I hated having to retake it.

Sure my BEC score was 93. It's funny the two sections I thought I knew the best and would do the best in were my worst scores REG because I work in tax and FAR because I was very good at financial accounting in school. I think part of it is if you know a lot of it already you don't work as hard for the exam. Really just don't underestimate any of them. I think that is the main reason people fail BEC because it is supposed to be “easy” so they don't study as hard.

I think the lack of simulations is also what helped me pass on the first try. I certainly struggled with all the other exams. I think, with your scores in the other sections, you are in good shape…

You will love finishing up the CPA exams with no SIMs to deal with at the end 🙂

Honestly, I went into studying for BEC feeling like BEC would be my worst section. However, so far BEC is the only one I passed first try and I only have REG left. I think that as long as you watch the lectures and read through the material you'll be fine on this section

    FAR - 63 71 74 76.... thank god

    BEC - 78
    REG - 78

I honestly thought the BEC section for CPAExcel was awful. When studying CPAExcel and then going to NINJA MCQ, I was at a total loss. I think the NINJA book was a better tool for BEC.

However, I do like CPAExcel for the other sections.

    A - 84
    R - 81
    B - 77
    F - 81

For BEC, I STRONGLY recommend supplementing with NINJA MCQ. It's only $40 and I think it really prepared me well for BEC.
