IFRS! By the time I get to the conclusion of one of my FAR videos and they start talking about IFRS, I want to take a fork and gouge my eyes out; it is hard enough to remember all of the rules of GAAP. How much time are you guys spending on IFRS?? Are you just memorizing the major differences?

I don’t have the NINJA notes yet but am planning on getting them closer to my exam date. Do the NINJA notes cover IFRS? Do you think memorizing (or being familiar with) what the NINJA notes cover on IFRS be sufficient? Basically, I’m interested in knowing what everyone elses strategy on IFRS is. Thanks for the feedback.

Now what the hell do I do?

I've already taken a fork and gouged my eyes out. hahah im just kidding. I heard all of IFRS is free game on the exam but it is unlikely that many questions will show up. I only try to remember the key differences that are repeated in the MC questions.

Ninja notes cover IFRS … Someone made the comment that they are worth getting for IFRS alone … Just someone's opinion though

Remember, if you blow off IFRS, you will see 20 questions on it on the exam.

That's how the exam works, they're quite sneaky 🙂

Which review course are you using? Becker had little tables at the end of each chapter that did a side-by-side comparison of IFRS and GAAP and I simply ripped out all of those pages and made my own little IFRS vs. GAAP booklet that I reviewed the day before the exam. It really helped a lot.

I did not blow off IFRS, but still felt under-prepared in that area after sitting for FAR. But as others have pointed out, you never know. It's not one of the areas that they give you a % to guide you on its importance. Any of it is free game for testing within the specific topic, so like SO many aspects of the CPA exam, it is luck of the draw. I feel like only the very very well-prepared are set up to pass regardless of their ‘luck' and only the least prepared are set up to fail. The vast majority of us are in between and the specific 90 questions you get over the thousands of tiny topics play a pretty big role in the outcome. Basically, don't take any topic for granted on the CPA exam.

Yes IFRS sucks. It's adding another extra level of memorization which is quite annoying. When I studied I refused to memorize any of the IFRS rules but the exam ended up having a bunch of questions on it so that caused me so grief and doubte when waiting for my score.

Why are you waiting on the NINJA notes? Really why? They are soooo helfpul. And I only used the notes to study IFRS and it was more than sufficient and are presented in a way that are easy to absorb.

    Buy them stat!
