It took me 3.5 years to finally pass this monster. I just found out yesterday that I tore REG up with a 96! That’s my best score on any of these. I had a hard time with BEC, I actually had 2 chances back in early 2013 to pass all 4 tests, but I just couldn’t nail the BEC exam. I got close with a 73 and then just tried to take it again real quick during tax season, before FAR expired and pulled a 67 without studying. I honestly almost said screw it after that. I was tired of spending all this time studying, tired of telling family and friends that I couldn’t hang because I had to study for this test, over and over again. I lost credit for 2 exams and and only had credit for AUD and figured I would give it one more try. I actually got diagnosed with a pretty common, kinda scary medical condition right before I started studying and after seeing doctors and going through a bunch of tests it gave me some additional motivation and put things in perspective. I took down FAR (for the 2nd time!) and finally, barely, passed BEC with a 77. I had like a month and a half to study for REG and if I didn’t pass it I was done. I couldn’t go through the let down of not passing again. I felt like I did everything in my power to make sure I put myself in the best position to pass and fortunately it paid off. I finally passed all 4 in 18 months. That’s my CPA exam struggle. I noticed a lot of people posting that they are waiting for that final test so I figured I would tell my story and see if anyone else wanted to tell theirs. So… whats your story?

Good job!!! Definitely a motivating story for me 🙂

    BEC: 73, 81
    AUD: 85
    FAR: 71, 77
    REG: 74, 75...finally DONE! 😀

*This is my 2nd attempt at the CPA exam. For all of you who have failed this exam many times, given up on it, or taken a break like me, remember that it is still possible to finish what you started...failure is the opportunity to begin again more intelligently 🙂

Wow nice! Congrats! But now you've got me freaking worried about BEC. (My last exam, and taking it next week!)

My story? Been working in public accounting for a few years. Could never commit to a study schedule do to 1) the public accounting work schedule, and 2) a need of some sort of life and interaction with friends/family.

Decided it was time to get it out of the way to open more doors – started studying religiously in March. Took the first exam mid-May. Somehow managed to pass FAR and REG, although I have no clue how as I was more convinced that I had failed than passed. Knew I rocked out AUD (again, years ‘o experience…helps a ton).

Am now praying that I pass BEC next week so that I can be DONE. My friends, although supportive, do not hesitate to drop the “oh my god we haven't seen you in months are you alive why don't you come out certainly one evening (this happens every other week, so there is no ‘one evening') won't make you fail blah blah blah”. I haven't seen my family in over six months. Literally. They live a state over, and I miss them.

Already made plans to go out next weekend post-exam and enjoy the first weekend of no CPA-chain. Hopefully this is a recurring theme after scores are released on the 8th/9th. 😀

But really. You got me worried now.

Any tips on BEC? What was it that made it so difficult to pass?

    Thanks all.

@Lilla, Yeah, I was def shocked, I even checked it a couple times to make sure I was seeing it correctly. I cant wait to get that certification hanging in my office!

@Amay, glad I could motivate someone!

@DOSMO, The work experience has def helped me out alot. I was able to work through questions because of the experience that I prob wouldnt have known a few years back and thats also what helped me rip up REG. The only time I walked out of these tests feeling good was after the 2nd REG test. All the others I felt like I just got beat up. I had a hard time getting through the BEC material. It took me alot longer to get through each chapter than it did for the other exams. It looks like you have got your study habits down, I am sure you will nail it. I also had a tough time with the WC, quickly writing 3 paragraphs on indepth issues is not one of my strengths. The 1st time I took it I only finished 1 out of the 3, bad time management. The last time I had some really weird questions. Good luck on the exam, I hope you tear it up!
