    Hello everybody,

That’s my first exam in the CPA and I think it’ the last. I studied so hard for the AUD, even I did all the homework and the Wiley CPA Test Bank, also I felt did will on the day of the exam, but the score was shocked.!

I took the exam in Bahrain and I wish that I didn’t, and I got believe it or not 16.!!!

    Thanks for reading,

Emma… are you considering trying again? If English is not your first language and you are testing internationally, I think it is very respectable that you are taking on this challenge. It is such a difficult challenge for us to take the exam here in the US and there is no language barrier for us to overcome.

If you are thinking about trying again, you should talk to people on this forum and discuss your study strategy. Perhaps some people on this website can help you out? Everyone is very supportive and I think if you are determined to pass, you will find a way to get it done.

Either way, good luck to you and don't be angry about your score… I have a lot of respect for anyone who takes on the challenge of a CPA exam and an even larger amount of respect for someone who is testing internationally where you are not accustomed to living here in the US.

    FAR - 2012 - PASSED (YAEGER)
    AUD - 2012 - PASSED (YAEGER + NINJA NOTES)

    REG - 2013 - PASSED (YAEGER + NINJA NOTES + NINJA AUDIO)

    ETHICS - 2013 - PASSED

DONE!!! Thank you A71 for all the support! Hiya!!!

    @mdrobbin Thanks for the reply,

I am thinking to take it again along with BEC on MAY. And I will take it for sure in NY, I don't wanna go to Bahrain any more after this score. The problem is that on the exam I was kinda sure on the answers, but I don't know what happened. I did all the homework that Roger tell us about and I did will on it, but not enough on the exam. Thanks though

@emma English is also my secondary language. Theories in general are hard for me because of the play of words, the use of punctuations, and terminologies. Words like: otherwise, not more likely than not, unless, etc. etc. tend to confuse me at first, but I got the hang of it due to repetition in answering questions with those words or reading some literary works.

Also, during studies, I found that taking notes, even on those questions I did well, is kind of beneficial for reinforcing. I tend to forget them later on, and when I get back on my notes, I see them and I recalled whatever it is! I think, from what you've said, this is what is lacking on your strategy.

    FAR - 92 02/2013
    AUD - 90 05/2013
    REG - 85 10/2013
    BEC - 80 12/2013

    I'M DONE. THANK YOU LORD!

    Thanks for reply Mr.@henryv

The thing is I practiced on those things when I did my homework, and I put some notes on it, but again I am not sure what really happened. Thanks again

Do not lose hope! English is also my second language and I had a hard time withAUD because of this. What worked for me was the ninja notes because Jeff made it much more understandable. Please get it!

I understand very well how difficult it can be to grasp English. As a matter of fact when I married my white husband (I am Filipina) he used to always correct my grammar. Reading the review material can be challenging especially when it is quite boring and dry. However, the more I read the chapters over and over and over and over again and doing the MCQs over and over and over and over again, the concepts started making more sense.

Do not give up. I am sure you will do much better the second time. Most of us have felt the disappointment from a non passing score. Lift your head up and move forward. Also, have some faith and pray. Good luck.

F - Passed...THANK YOU, LORD. GLORY TO GOD.
B - Passed...THANK YOU, LORD. GLORY TO GOD.
A - Passed...THANK YOU, LORD. GLORY TO GOD.
R - Passed...THANK YOU, LORD. GLORY TO GOD.

I COULD NOT HAVE DONE THIS WITHOUT MY LORD. THANK YOU.

what is your studying strategy..anyway i don't know anything about your course provider because i use becker..

also, the problem is not in the place you took your exam at..but you can change it to Kuwait for example if it is a bad place for you..as i am from bahrain and passed my three tests already here..and the remaining is the regulation which is a new thing because we don't study tax here at all..

    good luck ..

@emma. The same thing happened to me for FAR.

If this is only the first test you've taken then learn from your experience on this last test. I've been using Wiley Test Bank and just recently passed BEC with an 83.

Although I used the test bank for FAR I changed up my strategy for BEC and it was a huge help.

Don't get too discouraged. Dust yourself off and get back on that horse again.

    @Emma5

Since I'm ESL/international student myself, I feel your pain in that respect. We have to work 3 times harder/more than English-speaking candidates.

Here is what seem to work for me: understanding concepts in PRIMARY language, understanding concepts in ENGLISH and translating all of the obscure terms and putting them into the review book. At the end of that, going back to MCQs in English and trying to work on speed and accuracy. Every missed question is reviewed and missed word/words are underlined and highlighted. During the actual test, I literally take mouse pointer and follow each word I read with it and seek out words that are key words, like auditor was hired to perform “review” and I immediately recall what is review about and which procedures are appropriate for it.

I know it is a tedious process, but it works, at least for me. My Becker books look so mutilated by the time I finish reviewing. Additionally, if you miss question twice, it is bound to go to the F/C = no exceptions. So, HW, F/C and tons of MCQs at least twice. And some of lectures, may need to be listened more than once or even more than twice 🙂 to really clarify auditing stuff.

Hope that helps and good luck!

@henryv, yeap, those darn words, “less than”, “all but”, “least” vs. “at least” and so on, ughhhhr!

Other international student here! 🙂 Same, trying to develop a strategy in order to pass FAR soon. For us is challenging to understand some concepts but I think once you get what is wrong then you can get the idea of the question.

Don't lose faith and go on! Many English speaking guys suffer with these exams and they try again and again, don't despair and go on!

@AnnaMay84 @Maverick @ice age @d3structo @SeattleAccountant @CPAJourney1 Thank you guys for all the motivation words.” get back on that horse again ” I already did, thanks. I am now studying BEC with Roger and I will finish it on the end of the month, then I am going to study AUD again with doing a lot of MCQs, and on May I will be taking the exams both of them in NY since there are no additional fees.

Thanks again guys, you really help me out a lot

I changed my mind guys and I want your opinion about that.

So everybody heard about the AUD going to change after JULY and I am afraid I can't pass it before that, so what I am gonna do is I am going to take the AUD exam on the first of April , because there will be enough time to take it again before July if I failed ” I hope not .” 23 days left, is it enough to be ready.? I will be take Becker course rather then Roger

    Thanks,
