I HATE PROMETRIC SITES!

I just sat for FAR, and I think I got my butt handed to me. First testlet went well, but from their on it was a battle (I ran out of time). My simulations were extremely long and detailed, which meant time consuming. I definitely put in the time and effort studying, and knew it all very well, unfortunately I lost focus and just realized I missed some detailed items in certain MCs that meant I got it wrong. I’m extremely sensitive to noise when taking an exam, and as soon as I started the second testlet, the site I was at seated a girl and a guy behind me. The girl was pounding away at her keyboard like it was fighting back, and the guy sounded as though he had whooping cough. He would start hacking every 30-45 seconds. On top of which, the person seated next to me kept shaking my desk and monitor with whatever he was doing next to me…….ARGH what a horrible experience!!!! I’m praying so hard for a 75 right now…..November 12, 2010 at 1:02 pm #257736
Prometric centers are so inhumane. Once I had a runny nose and I asked them if I can use tissues and the lady said: NO, no one else has them so you have to be treated the same way.! I told her that I couldn’t physically stay for 4.5 hours without wiping my nose that day and she said no because I could have written something on the tissues. I showed her that I had a brand new package, sealed and unopened or asked her to deliver me few pieces from the testing center ones which she could inspect. She just screamed: NO, I said, and now show me the inside of your pockets again…November 12, 2010 at 1:29 pm #257737
Brutal. Ive only taken one test and it was actually not bad. Just put the headphones on and I could barely hear anything. Im very easily annoyed that, and any of that stuff would damage my focus in a heartbeatNovember 12, 2010 at 1:30 pm #257738
FARbehind-what the hell is wrong with people sometimes?! I get that they have to take things seriously but really, a tissue?
Oobaisi – UGH – I am so with you being sensitive with noise around you. It really sucks for people like us, I’ve had experiences like that too in the testing rooms but recently I noticed that they do have these ridiculously large headphones like back in the 80s and you can use them to block out noise. It worked wonderfully for me lately. Try that next time. I hope you passed!November 12, 2010 at 2:41 pm #257739
I hate prometric sites, they feel so industrial and the one I usually go to is in this crappy neighborhood and is rundown and half the time I sit there worrying whether my car will still be there and if so in one piece without any major dents/scratches…. the people at mine are generally nice, I’m changing it up this time though and going some place new today… probably bad karma since I passed the other 3 on the first try in the other place, but hopefully I still pass and don’t get lost going to this one as well!!November 12, 2010 at 2:54 pm #257740
I have had great experiences at my local Prometric site. It’s only about a mile and a half from my house but it only has 4 computers. They didn’t have any openings in July last time I took FAR so I drove out of state to Charlotte, NC. The lady at the desk was the biggest b!+(# I had ever met. She was incredibly rude to me for no reason. Then she would stand behind me, glaring at my screen, while I took the exam and act like I was trying to pull something over on them. I know they have to walk through and all, but she was literally breathing down my neck. It was hard to concentrate.
I told my local people about it and thanked them for being so accommodating. Screw Charlotte’s Prometric!November 28, 2010 at 9:11 pm #257741
Well, somehow I got my score within 2 weeks of taking my exam. Bad site and all, I managed a 76. No more prometric sites for this guy!November 28, 2010 at 9:22 pm #257742
Congratulations!!!! I can’t wait till that day. My prometric site was really nice. They let me pick computer #3 for my exams.. it is my lucky number.November 28, 2010 at 9:26 pm #257743
Now, I’m just waiting on my Ethics materials. However, there’s little stress towards it. Nothing compared to the actual exams!November 28, 2010 at 10:38 pm #257744
HAHA.. there is NO stress towards Ethics..it’s open book.. so simple! I had to guess at 1 and that is the 1 I got wrong! I completed Ethics the day I got home from AUD.November 28, 2010 at 11:11 pm #257745
mine were ok but I failed a section at one and went to another one that test on Sunday I passed the first time there and I been going to that one since Im on a streak there so I will drive the extra miles to that one and I always sit on Sunday lolNovember 29, 2010 at 12:15 am #257746
Well, I just ordered the Ethics CD from the AICPA. I’ll get that done as soon as it comes in the mail. Glad to hear it’s pretty simple. My roommate (also a CPA), said the same about it. Now I’m just waiting on this final score to become “official.”November 29, 2010 at 12:23 am #257747
Do we have to pass ethics within the 18 month window?November 29, 2010 at 12:41 am #257748
I’m not certain about the time requirement for ethics. I believe you have to pass it within 12 months of completing the exam. Someone correct me if I’m wrong.November 29, 2010 at 1:12 am #257749
Just buy the ethics course and do it now. It’ll take you no more than a couple hours. Piece of cake.November 29, 2010 at 4:13 pm #257750
Wow, that’s awful. I went to the same center in Dayton, OH for all my exams and always had a good experience. The workers there were always friendly and helpful. My only complaint was that it was always freeeezing in there. Brrrrr
