Hey guys,

Sadly after passing three sections of the CPA exam I couldn’t manage to pass the AUD section, so as expected my FAR credit has expired and now I have to retake it again, I’m not worried since I’ve passed it with flying colors from the first try, but what I fear that my review course won’t be of help for me since I used Becker 2011 course.

The good news that I passed the AUD last quarter so I’m back to three sections, so my question is did the exam change that much since I’ve passed FAR back in August 2012? Is my FAR book obsolete now? Do I have to get a new one or the changes isn’t that huge?

since you have an older version of Becker book, and you had passed the exam before, I would suggest that you use Jeff's material as an refreshment course. It is much cheaper than Becker, and you can prepare yourself doing the MCQs that's offered through Ninja 10 point combo. It would be a waste of money to pay 1k for Becker FAR again.

The topics haven't changed drastically since I passed in August 2012?

The Ninja MCQ has enough explanation for each question with expansion on each topic that you could probably get by with just using the MCQ to study. You could go through every question once, reading all of the links and taking notes, then study your notes and go through all the questions again to see what you're still having trouble retaining. Then focus on your weak areas, then review everything again. If I remember correctly, the big changes have been the increase of IFRS knowledge required for the exam. I don't think there are that many other changes, but I could be wrong.

I imagine im starting to sound like a shill for ninja mcq, but i dont work for Jeff. That being said, I think you only need a refresher so if i were you, i would just pay the 50 bucks for ninja mcq and go through them.

I had to retake FAR in May 2014 and I got a higher score than I did in April 2012. I used the 2011 Wiley course originally. The exam did not change that much but some topics are emphasized more,and unfortunately I can't tell you what those topics are, but just study all topics and you should be fine. I had to crash course FAR the second time around but I still remembered everything pretty well.

@Sand Wraith- I studied 3 hours a day and just kept reviewing and reviewing and doing the MCQs. If you passed it once you can pass it again. Best of luck!
