After slogging through the beast, I’m want to do one of the small sections, AUD or BEC. As I’m undecided, I’ll try to make the case for each.

    AUD

Pros: 1. I read here over and over again how it overlaps with FAR

    2. I took it before (see my signature). It may be more fresh on my mind

Cons: 1. Next Becker live class in my area starts in October. I went to some of those for FAR and they were helpful. But it’s on Saturday, meaning it’s 8 hours. As much as I liked my FAR classroom experience, I don’t think my brain can stand 8 hours.

    2. Many say it’s the trickiest section.

    BEC

    Pros

    1. Next live class is starts 8/26. With a little structure, I’m more motivated to get right back on the saddle.

    2. With highest passing rate, it would seem easy compared to FAR (maybe)

    Cons

    1. Don’t know how much overlap it has with FAR

    2. BEC has some of the most boring subjects (cost, economics)

For some reason, I have the attention span of a 5 year old when doing most online lectures. If I do AUD, I have my doubts about using Becker again. I didn’t like Tim Gearty and may ending memorizing answers when I have done their homework before. I sampled some Roger videos and his style seems good for someone like me. But I don’t know anyone who used Roger. Most of the people I know used Becker and liked it. Someone gave me their 2014 Wiley book (which gives me extra questions) but I have no idea what their lectures are like.

    FAR 57 (11/2014), 64 (1/2015), 79 (7/2015)
    AUD 68 (2/2015), 79 (11/2015)
    REG 79 (1/2016)
    BEC 81 (4/2016)

Gearty is pretty boring and he just reads to you, basically. Can you maybe just read the textbook/study guide yourself and take notes as you go?

I bought Roger's full course and used him for Audit (both full course and Cram) and loved him. Since you did take it earlier this year I highly recommend his Cram. It comes with a book (almost the same material as his regular course book) except not so many questions in the book and no test bank…don't worry no love lost on that test bank. You're better off using NINJA MCQs and if you have Becker go ahead and use their questions. Initially I thought the Cram was going to be only high level but honestly I felt he went pretty in depth in his videos and ended up cutting the fat out so that's why its only 8 hours vs. 16 hours. It's $225 and you have access for two months so definitely use them wisely. I would watch the Cram as well as played the audio on my iphone and on my work computer. Worked like a charm! I didn't like him as much for BEC…liked Yaegar better for that one but definitely the full course. Good luck with everything!

My suggestion would be to purchase the roger audit section or the Roger Cram since you have been through AUD once before. I used roger for all four sections but I would say his best lectures are in the audit section. I will warn you, his audit test bank is terrible. Buy the ninja audit test bank. (Roger Cram + NINJA test bank = $265 total) I did thousands (4-6 thousand) audit MCQ before passing the AUD exam. The most important part of the audit exam is learning how the questions are asked because if you know what the question is actually asking they are pretty easy. Also, read the questions slowly, there is more than enough time on AUD compared to FAR.

Finally, the authoritative literature is most important for AUD, know how to search through it.

As for BEC, the exam has varied material and is a mixed bag of accounting, finance and economics knowledge. You can take BEC whenever, I would suggest taking it at the end and DON'T take it lightly, study for it like every other exam.

@Nute great advice! Especially on what the questions are asking. I think that's where a lot of people get mixed up. I got the Wiley book 2014 version on amazon (super cheap) and they do a great job of explaining what the question is asking then explain each answer…why the 3 are wrong and the 1 is right. This helped a lot when I was going through the questions and I felt that Audit was not as difficult as it could have been.
