   I got my score last week and was just ecstatic to see that I scored a 74. Yippee freakin' doo!

   Anyway, I'm waist deep in AUD right now and planning to take FAR in early Jan. With tax season coming up, I'm trying to decide whether or not I should take BEC while the content is still somewhat fresh in my mind. I guess I'd try to take it mid-January. Otherwise, it'll be after April 15th. Am I being overly optimistic or should I give it a shot? Any advice would be much appreciated.

   I suggest going ahead an knocking out AUD (you can do it). Then re-take BEC while it is still fresh. You'll have more retention and will probably notice things you overlooked first time through. I just think it is best to keep studying on something you are already familiar with, much easier than starting all over for a new test.

   NECain - I agree with heatmiser. I would focus on finishing AUD and then take BEC b/c it will still be fresh. I made a 72 in BEC the first time. I took it 1 1/2 months later and passed. I focused primarily on the areas that I scored weaker in first and then simmed over the other sections.

   @heatmiser and @MyLifeisCPA thanks for the advice. I do have to take FAR in Jan too which would only leave me a couple of weeks to kinda cram for BEC. I'm just torn because I want to take it while its fresh in my mind, but at the same time I'm concerned it'll be a waste of time, effort, and money if I rush it.
   Is a 2-week cram session going to be sufficient? I'm guessing I could possibly get 40 hours of good studying in at that time.

   Well Im studying for BEC the first time through, so Im no expert on how best to cram for BEC. IF you are using Becker, i've heard most knows are Chapter 3 and Chapter 5. So if you choose to cram, make sure those are priorities.

   I used the Wiley book and some of the "Essential " material from CPAReviewforFree.com, but I think I'll order the online Wiley material for the next go 'round. What do Ch. 3 & 5 cover in Becker?

   @NECain: I doubt 40 hours will be enough. Granted, you are retaking the exam, but if anything that should be motivation to really study hard so you don't end up in that prometric center a 3rd time for one exam. I studied about 85 hours for BEC the first time around. I passed, thankfully, but if I had to retake a section, I am fairly certain I would put in about the same amount of time again. Definitely review the lectures, homework, and notes once again. Of course, the second time around things go faster since you already have a basic understanding of things, but I would not blow it off. Taking risks is fine if you already signed up for it and just want to shoot the wind and see what happens. In my opinion, I have better uses for $200 than to spend it on an exam that I am not well prepared to take.

   Ch 3 in Becker is Financial Modeling = Discounted Cash Flow, Payback Period , etc
   Ch 5 in Becker is Cost Accounting = Break Even, Absorption/Variable Costing, Contribution Margin, etc
