    Hi all,

I was planning to take my first exam (REG) next year Feb (late Feb) and was wondering when will be the best time to purchase a CPA exam review course.

I understand most of the review courses will issue a new edition around November every year and if I purchase now, is that mean I am studying some “old” materials for the exam I am going to take next year? Should I wait for the new edition?

I have around 3-4 hours study time everyday (excluding Sunday because of my 2 years old son……..)

    Thanks for the help!

    REG - 80 (02/13/2015) Roger + Ninja Flash Card + Ninja MCQ + Becker's Note
FAR - 84 (05/29/2015) Roger + Ninja MCQ + Some Wiley book questions
BEC - 77 (08/27/2015) Roger + Ninja MCQ + Half Wiley book questions
AUD - 87 (08/28/2015) Roger + Ninja MCQ + Half Wiley book questions

It really depends on your timeframe for finishing the exam. Many of the materials expire in 1 year so you'll need to take that into consideration. You also need to think about when you are going to start studying and whether you are going to do a live course, an online course, etc. I didn't do a review course. I just got different online lectures and books from people and purchased question banks and supplementary Ninja materials. What is your plan? What review course are you thinking about using?

CPA Exam - Finally DONE (November 2014)
    BEC (08/10/13) 80
    AUD (08/24/13) 65 (11/13/13) 85
    FAR (04/12/14) 81
    REG (07/19/14) 69 (11/29/14) 87!!

I don't know if technology for Becker has changed recently, but I bought the 2012 for FAR and the other 3 sections for 2013 all in one transaction. The advantage in this was that I was able to get the bundle discount but was also able to get two different activation dates.

This turned out to be a big deal because I didn't end up studying for FAR until 9 months after I activated the 2012 version, but since I never activated 2013 I still had a full 18 months with the program.

Passed all 4 exams in 2014!

If you are not going to take or study for an exam in the next four months I would just wait until the new program is released and in the mean time just play around with some used materials to get a feel for the content and your study style.

If you are going to take 4 months to study for your first section you might as well start with FAR.

Passed all 4 exams in 2014!

Thank you very much for the recommendation.

I am thinking to Purchase Roger + Ninja MCQ and I guess I will purchase Ninja MCQ once I received my NTS.

In the meantime, I am studying Becker (2014 edition) which i am not so comfortable as I only got the book. Without a test bank, it is useless but to give me an “idea” what REG is about.

I use CPA Excel and it automatically updates the online material, and never expires. So when to purchase depends on which course you are planning to use.

    Florida CPA!
    Took final exam 2/25/15.
    Sent in Application 3/12/15.
    Issued License 3/20/15.
Used CPA Excel solely for all exams.
