because of educational requirements do you get a refund? I’m asking because I’m sending in my application Monday which includes payment for the admin fee and FAR which comes out to $422.

You really ought to know if you qualify to sit before applying. Your state board should have explicit guidelines to help you. Is there a reason you believe you might get denied?

Because I'm applying from out of state and somewhat confused on what the 6 hrs. of accounting principles are. At my university there's two introductory accounting classes that all business majors must take (Intro to managerial and Intro to financial accounting). Then once you start taking your major classes you take cost management 1 and financial accounting 1…The classes are not the same…you go over some of the same things obviously but in much more detail. If they don't take the intro courses as principle classes then I would not qualify but if they do then I would.

BTW I went to the University of South Carolina so any undergrad students from here that applied to take the exam in NC let me know if you had any problems. Just not clear on whether or not they'll count the classes as the same thing.

So you are applying to take it in NC? Why might I ask? I live in Virginia and applied and got approved to sit as an SC candidate because I undoubtedly met all their requirements where VA and NC were a little harder. Your intro to accounting classes should count as credits but I would just double and triple check NC's requirements, Im pretty positive they don't give refunds.

I got a job in North Carolina. It wouldn't have been a problem if I was applying in South Carolina. I guess if I get denied I can try and appeal it by sending the course descriptions but who knows.

In Florida, I had to pay a $50 fee to be evaluated (which included having my education reviewed/approved). Once that was completed, then I was able to go on the NASBA site and register/pay for my tests. I couldn't do both at the same time. I wasn't aware that any states would allow candidates to do both simultaneously.

Yeah I wasn't sure if I could send in my application fee wait to hear back then send in my exam fees if approved…Because I would like to pay for two exams because I expect to take two exams within the 6 month time frame. Or if I had to submit at least one exam fee with my application.

I would say that it depends. I applied 3x to take my test. First I applied in CA and got denied and my fee was not reimbursed. I then applied in CO and got denied again but my fee was reimbursed. I finally applied in GA after talking to a fellow colleague and to my school's registrar and got accepted:)

In NC, when you apply for the Exam, you have to send in the fees (section + admin) with your application. If you are denied re: insufficient/disapproved coursework, etc., then the fees are refunded. If your app is/was denied, then you can appeal. Just write a letter explaining your side of things and include documents that back up your argument. On the website it shows that there is an admin/processing fee for each application. Initial = $230 and re-exam +$75. You have to choose at least one section when applying. Just contact the people at the state bd.

Not sure why an old post was brought, up but I wanted to state that not all fees are refunded in every state.
