I am a member of the Illinois CPA Society. As part of the membership you can purchase the “Professional Ethics: The AICPA’s Comprehensive Course” CD at a discount. Has anyone purchased the CD from ICPAS? How does this work and how was your experience? I retake my last part on Tuesday and would like to study/take the ethic test before the scores come out in early May.

Hi Racergirl,

I am also a member of ILCPAS. I took the ethics exam it was a breeze compared to this FAR exam I am studying for. You basically fill out the form to receive the discounted ethics exam software and mail them a check. They later send you the CD and you can login and take it online. I went through all the modules because I didn't want to chance failing. It took me about 10 hrs that day but less if you count breaks to eat. It was a pretty straight-forward and simple process if you ask me.

IDreamofCPABonus thank you for the information. I took the ethics test last week while waiting for the FAR results. So glad I did that. This morning after learning I passed FAR (my last section) I received a letter via email from the IBOE with my IL CPA certificate number and date of issue of today. Now I have to wait until the first week in June to start my licensing process with the Department of Financial and Professional Regulation.

Good luck on the rest of your exams. I know you can do it.

I used the text book and finished in 4 hours but I was being super slow because I only wanted to do it once. It is pretty straightforward.

RacerGirl: Why do you have to wait until June? (experience?) Congratulations on finishing your exams. Happy licensing!

I received mine in about 3 weeks from mailing the application to seeing my license number pop up online.

IL Tip: You have to request in writing for ILBOE to snail mail your results to IDFPR and this can take some time. You can do that now so IDFPR will have the info when you apply. There is a form at ILBOA.com.

Baxter Congrats on your license. ILBOE is electronically sending my info tomorrow. I was told to wait 10 days before sending in my application to IDFPR. I still need to have my experience verified. I am a little worried about the verification because my company went bankrupt. I hope that my prior manager will be able to sign off on the document. Its good to hear that your license only took 3 weeks. I really need to find a job but everyone wants those three words…CPA after your name. My 23 years of experience and a masters degree does not count in the Chicagoland job market at this time.
