Inexpensive tax software to prep a handful of clients

    Hi I was wondering if anyone knows of any inexpensive tax software that I could use to prepare returns? I only have about two or three to do, e-file requested, and I was wondering what is the least expensive to do? (Since getting expensive software would defeat the purpose). Does turbotax have software to prepare other people’s returns on? Or maybe another software?

    I use the Tax Act Professional Edition. It is actually very good and inexpensive. I think to buy the cheapest version of Federal with no bells or whistles is $119. and its 9.99 to efile per return. Then you can add states if needed for like 24. Hope this helps. I have used it for 5 years and have never had issues with it.

    To answer your question about turbo tax, they are only for self preparers.

    @elprezidente07 Thanks for your advice.

    I love where I work, my coworkers are nice to me and taught me everything. However, the salary is low. $13/hr and I live in NYC. The only reason I stay where I work now is because I can study during not busy season and I can gain the 1 year experience which is required for my CPA. I am not saying I want to start my own business right now. I will still be a full time accountant whether for the company I work for now or other CPA firms. I just wanted to start building my customer based early. And there is no way I can get my company's clients because they have been knowing my boss for 30 years, even 40 years.

    For your answer I assume that you have your own firm. Any advice you can give me? Like how to get more customers. etc.
