No stories, but how can a CPA be disbarred if they aren't a part of the Bar? That's for attorneys.

My state board sends out a newsletter that lists recent disciplinary actions. In the latest issue there was one license permanently revoked, several licenses revoked for one year, a couple of fines, and a couple of mandatory CPE courses.

In the case where the CPA got their license revoked, they failed to register their firm with the state for 2013. This particular CPA was also investigated for (wait for it those of you studying for AUD and REG)…

My audit professor (retired big 4) says that when he gets the newsletter, the first thing he does is flip to the back to see who is in trouble. He says there are always people in there he knows.

I told him that if I get in trouble I'm going to blame it all on him.

@Gatorbates Correct me if I am wrong, but I have always heard of losing your CPA license as “disbarred from practice before the IRS.”

I am particularly looking to hear about any that are still in the practice of accounting. Do they still practice accounting?
