Any internal auditors out there care to share your salary and hours worked? It seems to me that it varies widely. I’m just trying to get a feel for what is common for this field.

    Thanks

Base 80k (2.75 yrs of total experience… former Big 4 audit). Hours are between 40-55 per week (avg. is probably 47 if I had to pick a number). More when I'm on a travel project, and some weeks are pretty slow (i.e. winding down one project and just getting started on another).

On a slow week, I still end up at the office for around 40 hours, but spend more time reading articles, company policy updates, reading about upcoming system/process/strategic changes internally and in the industry, etc.

Sort of like public, with the workload fluctuating with your project workload, but it's not as regular with a busy season, mid-yr, interim, quarters, and all that (not nearly as many hours though).

For what it's worth, when I was looking to leave Big 4 I was getting offers (and also discussing with recruiters) salaries ranging anywhere from ~$65 to $75 with about 2 yrs of experience. Again, depends a lot based on the company and probably a 5-10% higher base for larger market (i.e. NY/SF/Chicago).
