I am a student with 120 so I can sit in my state but I need to have some foreign credits from study abroad “evaluated” to get 150. Unfortunately i’m not in a NASBA state so I can’t use their service. Anyone else had luck with another foreign credit evaluation service?? My school has very little guidance and most people have no idea what i’m talking about. Please help!!

I used WES (World Education Services) for my bachelor's degree outside the United States.

I am in the opposite way around. I needed the service to get the equivalency evaluation because my credentials are foreign. That's what I submitted to my State Board Office. I was found eligible to sit, no questions asked.

    Hi Desperate2bCPA!

What state are you in? Some states only allow credential evaluation from certain agencies. Do your research and find out what specific agencies your state allows.

Also, some agencies require original transcript but some allows certified true copies. Some requests course description with the school transcript as well.

From my personal experience, I applied in VA and I used FACS to evaluate my foreign credentials. I submitted my original transcript and course description.

I used Joseph Silny and Associates for the evaluation of my out of country Bachelor's Degree – only because that was the evaluation institution listed on my states' website. I will be sitting for the exam in Florida.

    * One more class needed before I am eligible to sit for the exam.

The only way to find out which Evaluation service to use is to send email (s) to your state board and ask them which evaluator they accept. NIES is NASBA internation evaluation services. States can choose to use this service too even if they are not a NASBA state. At the time of my enrollment I got evaluation done by ECE which is what Colorado accepted at that time, now colorado accepts NIES, so being a little proactive I have got an evaluation done from NIES which I will need after passing the exam anyway. You can call NIES also they are quite responsive and ask them if their evaluation is accepted by your state board.
