    Hi all,

I am an Irish Chartered Accountant (over 8 years post qualified) and I am looking at taking the IQEX exam and, if passed, apply for a CPA license in one of the States that participates in the international reciprocity.

However, I am wondering which State would be the best one for me to apply for license? My particular circumstances are::

1 – I don’t live in the US – still in Ireland and hoping to become a CPA before I try to move to the US (legally – my wife is a US citizen).

    2 – Don’t have a US social security number

3 – I’ve a three year accounting degree form an Irish university

4 – Of the 8 years as an Irish CA, 7 years were in public accounting and 1 (and counting) in private industry

Does anyone have any advice on which State is the best for someone like me? Its proving tough to figure it all out before I embark on the IQEX process.

    Thanks

My wife is an immigrant, and of course I was by her side as she went through just about every step in getting her green card. Let me just say that we don't make anything easy for immigrants, so you should get your answers straight from the horse's mouth. NASBA.

I also found this link, but I'd still contact NASBA. BTW: Make sure to find out how not having a social security number impacts your application. Us Americans seem to be stuck up about the social security number.
