    Hello,

I currently work at a private mftg firm as a staff accountant on a long-term temp basis. It’s somewhat flexible hours, and I’m considering working part time in order to allow for some freelance accounting work –

Has anyone ever done this & have suggestions on how to start? An idea I’ve had is doing bookkeeping for small or new companies in town. Any thoughts appreciated!!

Well, I have run my own business for 20 years as a small bookkeeping and tax business. After I pass the test my intention is to convert to a CPA firm. How to do that, I have no idea. It's my goal anyway. Or try and jump in with someone already established.

What kind of side business are you intending to pursue? Is this going to be A&A/tax/bkpg related or are you intending to launch something in a different industry using your accounting skillset?

I do bookkeeping but don't get paid for it LOL, for a small nonprofit, for a nonprofit youth sports league and for a girl scout troop. There are websites like taskrabbit to get leads, if you are a quickbooks proadvisor you are listed on their website or you can advertise on craigslist under services. Also there are often bookkeeping services that hire for part time work.
