Is Becker book plus WTB enough for BEC?

I passed FAR and AUD with old college textbooks, WTB, and Ninja Notes. I borrowed my friend’s Becker BEC book, and was wondering if that supplemented with WTB and Ninja notes would cover enough bases. I’m about halfway through the book and feel like a fool for underestimating this material. I thought based on the score releases that this would be the easiest exam. So far I have countless formulas and pass keys swimming in my head. Give me AUD’s CDOG any day of the week.

My second question is, without disclosing anything vital, is BEC supposed to test primarily on one subject (cost accounting, AIS, economics, etc.) in the way that REG is mostly taxes sprinkled with B-Law and FAR is financial sprinkled with governmental? Or, rather it’s actually supposed to be an even mix of all the subjects?

Thanks in advance for any replies!

    1. Becker and WTB should certainly be enough. I took this beast 3 times and didn't pass or even come close to passing until I started supplementing Becker with WTB.

    2. Don't underestimate the BEC exam, it is a b!tC#. Everything is pretty evenly spread out and there is no real “sprinkling.” You have to know it all evenly. I would really recommend reading the IT section the evening prior to your exam and know the job descriptions/segregation of duties. The IT section is quite vast so a quick refresher prior to/immediately before the exam.

I just took BEC last month and passed with a 83 with only using Becker. So, yes Becker should be more than enough to help you pass.

    FAR - 77
    AUD - 75
    REG - 78
    BEC - 83

Get WTB. I love it and am sad my subscription ended. I passed BEC without it, so going to try for FAR without it. If I fail, I will purchase it for FAR again.

    AUD: 84
    REG: 84
    BEC: 79
    FAR: 83

I've only used Becker and I think it's sufficient enough to tackle BEC. I would say it's really subjective as to which chapter people struggle with as people have different background. If anything, do not overlook any chapter as they are randomly tested, especially the IT-related chapter, which most people tend to neglect. The WC subject can be pulled from any chapter, so give yourself enough time for an in-depth study.

    Good luck!!

I used Roger plus Wiley and it was more than enough for me. BEC was the hardest exam for me because I hate cost accounting and flow charts. But cost accounting is definitely an area you will want to make sure you know in and out.

    REG-89 (08/26/13)
    FAR-91 (10/28/13)
    BEC-87 (11/25/13)
    AUD-96 (01/06/14)
    Ethics-92 (12/08/13)
