Is Big 4 Tax a Dead End Job?

Going Concern has an article on the subject. I would tend to disagree with it, and it looks like a lot of commenters on there do as well, but I was interested in hearing others’ opinions here.

Does anyone have a good experience to share moving from Big 4 Tax to something great? Are you definitely locked into taxes in one way or another…and is that even a bad thing if you enjoy it? As in, will you be limited in opportunities–obviously if you enjoy what you do that’s not a bad thing. What kinds of industries or parts of the job are best to focus on to make yourself more marketable to other companies if you’re looking for something else after B4 Tax?

Gosh, I was just reading some of the comments on the GoingConcern article and they scare the hell out of me. I am in tax, and to make it even worse, I work in non-profit tax at a large private University. I am going to be looking for a new job after I pass this last section and I feel like I should be focusing my search on a non-tax job for sure.
