I’ve gone a little crazy with my BEC study techniques after I passed FAR and realized I’m half way home. Over the past 6 or 7 weeks I have done all of Becker MCQ twice (1200 MCQ *2=2400) all of Wiley MCQ twice (600 *2=1200). I’ve done a few progress tests in Becker, and a few 72 MCQ quizzes in Wiley, plus the Becker simulated exam. All of that equals about 5548765465846354654354 MCQ. I feel like I’ve done all the questions so many times that I’m way too familiar with them :/ … It just dawned on me when I started doing the new AICPA released questions for BEC. I’m awesome with calculations and variances, but everything else… I’m getting wrong 🙁 Is there such thing as TOO many MCQ?!

    AUD 81 (X4) Previous scores 59, 72, 72
    REG 80 (X3) Previous scores 59, 60
    FAR 75 (X2) Previous score 67
    BEC 79 (X2) Previous score 58

Yeah it definitely is possible to do too many. Once you start remembering answers even partially the value of reworking questions starts to go down. Even worse, you may start to get a false sense of security if things are easier. Of course keep working problems, but try and get more out of each question by not just pickin which answer is correct but to also know and review why each of the other three choices is incorrect or define the term, etc. this way you can review lots of material with fewer questions as well as learn a lot while going through homework questions. Good luck!

My personal thought is that it isn't the # of MCQs that you do – it's the # that you do leading up to your exam. The CPA Exam is more short-term-memory-friendly than people realize.

    AUD - 79
    BEC - 80
    FAR - 76
    REG - 92

I did only around 600 practice MCQs for BEC. It's the least # of practice MCQs I've done out of all the sections. And I passed on first attempt. You really don't need to do that many questions for BEC. Just make sure you're understanding the concepts behind the right and wrong answers on the questions you're practicing with.

I do EVERY single MCQ in Wiley in the last week of my exam for every single module lol

I think I've gone overboard too, but it's helped me pass my first 3!

@Peanut, you will be fine. Becker's final exams are very difficult. I bombed the Becker Reg final exam right before taking Reg and passed the actual exam easily. I'm working on Audit right now and I'm not even going to bother with Becker's final exams. They are just confidence destroyers!

    DONE!

I had a thread in the days prior to my BEC exam. I was getting really worried about my Final exam # 2 for BEC. I think for exam #1 is was in the 70's for every test. For exam #2 I scored 54, 75, 50.. that was the day before the actual exam. I ended up with an 81 on the test. Dont put the test on a pedestal. It is a hard exam. But, if you go in that center to dominate the test then you will. If you walk into prometric with your tail between your legs the exam will dominate you. Every time I sit down to take an exam the first thing I do is write on my scrap paper “dont run, just let it happen”.. Its dumb but I basically tell my test that Im going to crush it. I was a college football player and thats just my mentality. You put the work in peanut.. Just finish the damn thing.

<3 hawkmante You made me feel much better. I know better than to do those damn final exams a couple of days before my exam! When I walked into REG I was ready to destroy–it made such a difference having a positive/dominating mentality. I need to boost my confidence back up! Thanks everyone!

Well just to throw my two cents in, I think that the becker final exams are a great tool. For every exam I thought the level of difficulty was comparable to the actual exam, but I seem to be alone on that one. You don't want to zap your confidence before going into the exam, but don't underestimate the value of the final exams as a learning tool. Best of luck to you, Peanut!

I dont think its possible to do “too many” (unless you're getting 100s consistently). The last weekend before my aud exam alone I did at least 800.

    FAR- 77
    AUD -49, 71, 84
    REG -56,75!
    BEC -75
