    Hello all,

I am pretty paranoid right now, and did not know how much information I was getting into before I spend all of the money on review and application fees.

The situation is this- I plan on studying for 8 weeks straight, about 12 hours a day. This gives us about 650 hours (taking out the days where I actually go take the exam, and I do not plan on studying after taking the exam on the same day….)

I just want to know from those of you who have passed- is it doable to pass all FOUR parts in these time given? I already schedule my exams, and my education background was in accounting with pretty good grades.

(also, the time includes watching videos and lectures.)

Just want to have a realistic expectation.

    Thanks!

Is that 4 exams in 2 months meaning you have actually more time to study for the first exam? So you could knock out either FAR or REG as your first exam. Then have 2 months to study for the other 3. I think it's possible if all you are doing is studying and have no other responsibilities. It took me 16 months in total but if you actually look at the study time. FAR took about a month and a half and that was during busy season. REG took 5 weeks working 45 hours a week and BEC took 3 weeks working the same 45 hours. I failed AUD but it comes easy to some people. Second time, it took me 4 weeks but I took a week off of work to get it over with. Anyway, if you can actually study 8 REAL hours a day, I say you got a shot.

If you are able to commit the 12 hours a day and have the background in accounting I wonder if you'd retain more of the information that way and do well. I haven't taken any of the exams yet, so I don't know what to expect in terms of how much I will retain over studying for a couple months vs a full time schedule.

    Good luck!

Anything is possible, but unless you are a hot shot hedge fund manager or have worked in public accounting for years, I wouldn't expect that plan to be successful. Plan on spending a year of your life confronting your inter-demons and wrestling with the FAR beast.

    FAR- 82
    REG- 93
    AUD- 89
    BEC- 88

Just take the sunk cost and disregard or move 2 exams.

    Think about it?

If you take all 4 in this window you're chances of failing every exam is up there and chances are you will have to pay to take every exam again.

Or you can just study for 2 exams, disregard the other 2 and just have to pay for 2 exams instead of four.

    Hmm…interesting question..

I think theoretically it is doable, but realistically – I don't know. But I can share you my experience…

I was in my last semester of college last fall and i was only taking 2 classes. I didn't care about school because i already got job offer in October. So basically i was full-time studying for REG and BEC. I spent about 2.5 weeks studying for REG and less than 2 weeks for BEC. I wasn't as hardcore and I only spent 6-8 hours every day studying for the exam.

It was not fun – i think i was losing myself towards the end. but apparently i overstudied based on my scores.

So it might be possible that you pass all 4 in two months. but that is a huge commitment and a lot of effort.

AND…to be honest, i kinda regret for cramming 2 sections in one month – could have studied better with more time and might get the watt sells award

If using Becker and you can get through all the MCQ 1-2 times I don't see why not 🙂 I watched lectures then did the MCQ 1-2x. If you can do that, then why the hell not? Becker carefully selects its assigned homework MCQ questions, so just do them and you're good to go. This is all I did and IMO all you need to do. You may not need to do 4,000 MCQ per section as others have.

Of course you can pass in 2 months if you aren't working! You only have to be in the top 45% to pass each section… what does that say when you are competing against a bunch of soccer moms on their 15th try and kids from DeVry who have been burned by at least 3 pyramid schemes before deciding to become an accountant?

Now I probably offended some, but I am sorry, but this is the cold hard truth. Anyone with decent time management skills and a good grasp of the fundamentals of accounting can pass the exam working full time with busy season in well under a year. With no job, 2 months is pretty reasonable.

Becker has a 12 week intensive program and ppl have passed with that. I'd reccommend something like that instead. The biggest worry with intense time periods is that you will try to cover everything (bad idea) and then fail as a result. So if you have a program that keeps you moving from one topic to the next so that you do get at least a shallow exposure to everything and doesn't sweat answering every question, that would be best.

    Short answer no.

If you have incredible powers of concentration, an extremely good memory and have a superior grasp on all aspects of accounting from college . .. . then it “might” be possible. This time frame only allows briefly reviewing each topic once(ish) before test day.

My concern is that you will kill yourself over this “hail Mary” plan and only pass one or possibly no sections. You would have wasted your 8 weeks and be no better off.

My opinion, 2 sections is more realistic. Depending on which ones.

I have two friends who graduated with top grades in college, so both of them got multiple offers from the big 4. They both started studying in January of 2007 and finished all 4 parts by Nov of 2007. It took both of them 4 windows to pass all 4 parts with the working hours of a big 4 accounting firm. I do not doubt their intelligence for one bit, both did great in college, and both of them are now directors of fortune 1000 companies, so it is safe to say they are pretty smart. They both told me that they could have passed all 4 parts studying full time in no less than 6 months. So I really doubt that someone can do this in two months, and if they can, what a waste of talent. They should have gone for medicine or engineering if they like math.
