i have a full time job and a very demanding of my attention 2 year old, my wife is a nurse who works 12 hour shifts, so my study was very broken up as far as when i got time. I spent about 2 to 2 and a half months studying, most of was watching the yeager videos, i would pause every time they were going to work a question, and make sure i could answer it first. Then I only spent about 2 weeks reviewing using the wiley test bank.

if i was doing it over, and my plan going forward, is to from now on try to get through the videos much faster and leave MUCH MUCH more time to practice questions from wiley test bank, those last two weeks helped more than the 2 months of watching video IMO

We are the same person (minus the passing a section part) lol…my wife is a rn and I have a 16 month, so I certainly understand breaking up the studying. I have heard that the audit section of Yaegar is dry, as opposed to the other three. Many people use yaegar for far, reg, and bec, but use roger (because of his enthusiasm) for audit. It all depends, but either way, they are basically the same. Roger gives a the Wiley book and CD, but his own lecture book (which is awesome), and you view videos on his site. I had Roger back in 2011 but let it expire.

But you can pass with Yaegar, you just have to put in the time.

mtaylo24, FAR is a BEAST, just the vast amount of material, none of it is really hard IMO, except for maybe pension, that stuff just dont make sense…. but the huge amount of material was so so so overwhelming, when i left the test i knew i had either just barely passed or just barely failed…. I actually work as an auditor for my state legislative audit division, so i was fortunate that i see governmental all the time, the only other weird thing was not for profits and like i said pensions, i would like to sit down and actually try to understand pensions one day, because after banging my head against the books for 2 hours i said screw it, they might ask me 1 or 2 questions on pensions, i will just miss those cause i can more effectively increase score by doing other MCQ…

For Aud, I plan on busting through the videos as quickly as possible and then rocking out a few thousand MCQs… Like i said earlier, I think practice questions are better than any review video, especially if, like the wiley tb, the questions explain the answers to you.

Hopefully being an auditor will prepare me to some degree for the aud test… I just hope to get through Aud and REG without failing, because I feel like BEC should be a “home stretch”.

Thats not to say BEC is easy by any means, but from my understanding it is not on the level of FAR or Reg

I didn't find Yaeger's AUD lectures very helpful. You're better off skimming the chapter and doing all the questions at the end of the chapter and supplementing with the test bank. I switched to Roger and finally passed FAR and passed my BEC re-take. I think some of us might need some extra energy, which Roger provides, but the bulk of your knowledge comes from working the questions and taking notes.

Passed: R-F-B-A - Persistence is the key to passing.

Yaeger's Audit is very helpful. The guy hammers these key concepts that are underlying the whole exam through the whole lecture. These key concepts are the foundation of AUD, so if you don't have an understanding everything else will be shaky. I don't think I could have gotten that emphasis from the book alone.

You have to do all the questions and test bank questions though. If you rely only on the lecture most likely you will not do well.

Okay… I've responded to similar posts in the past but now I have my definitive proof that Gary Bulmash (Yaeger CPA Review) does an excellent job with AUD… I scored a 97 after studying for approximately 2 weeks (a little more) and having no experience whatsoever in auditing with the exception of the course that I took while fulfilling the educational requirements for the CPA.

My best advice is just to stick with him; I understand that his style and method takes a couple of hours in order to be accustomed, and I started to second guess him as well after the first module on the professional ethics or whatever it was. However, he really starts to grow on you, he succeeds in making the material relatively palatable, and is actually quite funny going through the multiple choice questions. Most importantly, Bulmash has a great understanding of what is important for exam purposes and what you need to know to do well.

A 97 on AUD is my best score out of the four sections despite the fact that it should have been my weakest subject matter. I actually thought the exam was rather easy and the preparation with Yaeger and specifically Gary Bulmash was a significant part of that equation.

I have used Yaeger for both AUD and BEC, and am now using it to study for FAR. I have to agree with InterFC1, and I know I am probably the minority on this opinion, but Gary is probably my favorite instructor for Yaeger. With BEC and now with FAR I feel like the videos cover literally every little detail, while I felt like Gary's lectures for AUD tended to skim over the parts he felt you didn't need to know for the test. I found this method to be much more effective and efficient, and helped me hone in on the areas I really needed to have down pat for the exam. If you want every last detail discussed you aren't going to like Gary, as is the case with any study material you just have to know your learning style and what works effectively for you.

    AUD - 2/2013 - Passed!
    BEC - 5/2013 - Passed!
    FAR - 8/2013 - Passed!
    REG - 11/2013 - Passed!

I've used Yaeger for all sections. I did not enjoy Phil or Gary as much as Cindy but that's just me personally. The material they go over and teach is definitely enough to pass (in my opinion) if you put in the time and effort. I work full time, have two kids (2 1/2 and 1 years old!) and just passed my last one. It is about half the price of Becker, which is why I chose it and I do not regret it.

    Best of luck!

    FAR -2/12 82
    AUD -8/12 84
    REG -2/13 85
    BEC -5/13 86
