    My story:

    Currently I am halfway through law school and taking the last part of the CPA at the end of May. I have one year of public accounting in tax experience, and had various internships in college including about 6 months in the accounting department of a large corporation. I do not want to practice law or be in public accounting. I have been contemplating getting an MBA from top school but think that I need more experience first.

    Does anyone have any suggestions about different career paths with the resume that I posses?

    Thanks

    Hmm, how about veterinary school? I hear that every once in a while @jenuno gets angry and sends a few cats to the hospital. You could totally take care of those cats.

    XXXXXXXXX CPA, DVM, JD, MBA I wonder if that has been accomplished in the past? In all seriousness I would try to focus on your interests and find a career that approximates those interests. It sounds like you are collecting designations without any real interest in pursuing work in those related fields. Adding an MBA won't be of much use if you don't have an idea of what you'd like to do with it.

    that's exactly what I am going to do if I decide to practice law.

    The problem with getting your CPA and LLM is that you are then limited to only practicing one or the other, you are not permitted to practice both. (As to my knowledge).

    Sounds like you love to study! What was your goal in doing all of this? Please don't tell us it was to make your name longer?

    Life is short.. find what you like to do and do that.

    If not, settle like me! I'm not saying i love accounting, but in a not perfect world, I'm happy with where I'm at and what I chose.

    Huh? not allowed to practice both? I thought you can be a lawyer by day and sign tax returns as a CPA by night, just not at the same firm. As for the original poster's question, I agree with what has been posted earlier. It sounds like you are collecting degrees because you like certificates on your wall and letters behind your name. Nothing wrong with that, but seems like this has become a (very expensive) hobby of yours and not a series career commitment. From a career stand point staying in school and getting more degrees is just setting you back farther and farther from your peers, short of getting your MBA from an ivy league school each year that goes by is one less year of work experience, which will trump all your degrees. You should pick something you enjoy, and get started from the sounds of it maybe you should get into academics, be a professor.

    @minimority

    lol… yea… i'm all about vet's… mine takes great care of my cat…

    btw, my sis is in law school and there is no way in hell i'd ever put myself through all that… these cpa exams are enough for me… mba school wasnt difficult at all IMO so that could be an option for you if you want to get another degree or credential.

    I'm not trying to make my name longer…

    I'm getting my cpa because I have all of the requirements for it and doing it while in school is not setting me back at all. I'm going to graduate law school at 25 so again I don't feel behind my peers at all.
